That really was the point of no return for this story line and they managed to screw it all up.

This really didn't have to be this messy. Rock referees Cody vs. Roman at WM so that the bloodline doesn't interfere in the match. Cody wins and finishes the story, Roman is pissed, fights the Rock at Summerslam for the "head of the table". There.

The Rock knew what he was doing. He said on Chris Van Vliet that if he were to return, he would have to come in as a bad guy. CVV said "you can't be a bad guy" and The Rock said "don't tell me what I can't do!"
He knew that him coming in out of nowhere and interrupting Cody's story was gonna seem lame to the fans and that he could side with the bloodline and be a bad guy. It worked like a charm.
I like it. Haven't seen a heel Rock in a long time. During the attitude era, I hated the Rock.

So true. Considering jim loves punk it's amazing he never mentions the rock ending punks excellent 400+ wwe title reign for no reason and stole the wrestlemania 29 main event from him. In the long run that helped contribute to punk leaving for 10 years. Also jim like all of rocks fans never mention that the rock wrestled full time... for 4 years before selling out.
Dwayne, for all of his faults, is still a very likeable guy. The others, not so much. That goes a long way here.

To be fair to Jim, he really only knows The Rock, not Dwayne Johnson. He hasn't paid attention to alot of media over the past 15 or odd years, so he wouldn't really know how much of a Corp douche Dwayne can come off as, he just knows he's on top of Hollywood. And since Jim thinks like a booker first due to his experience, he knows that means guaranteed money, but overlooks how bad it is.
Dwayne is definitely some sort of Asshole, I mean I'm not saying he's shat on anyone's face, but you can't be on top of Hollywood for so long and come off as a 'nice guy' without being some sort of prick, and it's starting to show. The Rock has been gone for 20 years now, Dwayne Johnson just plays a diluted, artificial version of what he used to be now, and Jims too blinded by the money he's not getting from it to see how this is one of the worst ways you could do this whole thing.
Considering Jim Cornett has had a lot of experience with a lot of wrestlers. Trying to be nice to the rock right now, is understandable. Because Hogan is a douche, and Michael’s was an insufferable prick. Which that last part was a direct quote from Jim Cornett.

A boss will use his power to put you down at work. I think Cody is the closest thing to a 80's era wrestler back when hopes and dreams were major selling points. The problem isn't so much this past week, it's the last fifteen years of WWE routinely disrespecting their own audience. They see The Rock take up a prominent position on the TKO board, followed by his extremely limited daughter (sorry but it is what it is, she's basically David Flair) getting handed a GM role on NXT and he's gatecrashed the Cody-Roman WrestleMania build, with a swerve not exactly being left easy to explain. There's an understandable lack of faith, no matter how much Brian Gewirtz or anybody else might like to pretend otherwise.

People (Jim included) need to understand Rock does NOT care about wrestling and never has. He wanted to be a football player and failed and only reluctantly got into wrestling in 1996 when he’d ran out of money, by 2000 he was filming The Mummy Returns, by ‘03 he was part time and by ‘04 he was gone. This is not a passion project for him he just uses it to get his shit in other avenues over.
It's crazy to me that people still criticize the rock for becoming an actor. The writing was on the wall with the Saturday night live gig. He made 5 million for scorpion king alone. Rock had the TALENT to become an actor and succeed. His wrestling career was linear with stone cold's. So when stone cold retired. What else could he have done? He made a smart decision. More money less risk of developing injury. You see what happens to long term wrestlers. Some can't even walk due to these knee/hip replacements, develop addiction or end up dying early. He'll even WWE didn't think he was going to make it, they didn't renew his contract in 2004 and he ended up becoming one of the biggest actors in Hollywood. Everyone should want growth in which they can do bigger and better things. Alot of wrestlers CANT do what the rock did in Hollywood. That's why they are still wrestling.

Jey is probably going to face GUNTHER at EC and lose because of Jimmy. Jey vs Jimmy at Mania and GUNTHER vs Bron at Mania is looking more likely. I'd even be cool with Sheamus vs GUNTHER with Sheamus winning the title and becoming a grand slam champion.
Would obviously rather see Jey or Bron in that spot, but Sheamus and GUNTHER have great chemistry. Sheamus deserves an IC title run before he retires from his back/spine injury too.

Black Adam has really tarnished the Rock's standing in popular culture. Lots of huge stars have flop movies from time to time but that whole debacle ruined his image as an indisputable draw, like him or loathe him. Now executives should have the confidence to refuse his ideas on the basis that it isn't guaranteed to make money. He's now 52 and it's hard to envision any sort future for him as an elite level performer,, in the ring or in Hollywood.

We all know he is different and his promos won’t be as funny, but he is still entertaining.
