- These young women share their stories about battling their weight. As they fight perceptions and their demons head on, we hear how the simplest derailed their body image. They are learning to overcome what others think and love their bodies. Nearly 3 million 16 to 24 year olds tip the scales beyond their recommended BMI weight. We meet 20-year-old Shannon, she is a size 22 and celebrates her curves by selling lingerie products to the larger ladies; we also hear from 24-year-old Naomi, who has been a secret eater for most of her life and is now desperate to stabilise her weight.
It's hard enough for young people to find their place in the world. But for some, whether they're coping with a psychological illness or are facing major challenges, just getting through each day can be a struggle.

I appreciate Naomi sharing her secret eating habits with us. I hope she realises that, by starving herself in between sudden gorges, she's actually more likely to put on weight. When she starves herself, her metabolism slows right down and then, when she finally eats, her slow metabolism can't process the sheer volume of energy/calories in that food. Regular, frequent, sensible meals will help keep her metabolism at a good steady pace, keep hunger at bay and help her achieve a healthier lifestyle. She is beautiful and deserves to feel good about herself ❤
No, this is a myth. The metabolism is not a hydra. It's the process of energy production and expenditure, and it's simple math. Your body mass needs to be kept at a certain temperature to function. The more mass you have, the more energy is needed. If you consume more energy than needed, that is converted to fat. People who go through starving and binging cycles gain weight because they actually end up consuming too many calories. There is no such thing as slowing one's metabolism, as that is not possible for this very straightforward physical process. Know how much you weigh, find out your caloric needs, and keep a mild caloric deficit if you are trying to lose weight. That's all there is to it. People don't realise how much they're actually eating.

From what i see everyday on the street these girls are pretty normal not fat
Where do you live? Because that's definitely not the case where I live... They are very overweight and I'm glad they did something for their health. Obesity is dangerous :/ Don't get me wrong, I'm not judging... I was very overweight myself, lost over 45kg and it just makes life easier and makes you healthier/happier.

Jess is a great sister to her little brother. I am lucky to have both my grandmas who thought me how to cook. I also took care of my younger siblings and I had to learn how to cook at a young age since takeaway was always too expensive for us. It is not really easy to make nutritious meals every day of the year 🥲
