    Awesome video, I haven’t even watched it all but I can tell it is very informative. I have also saved this video for when I pick up a spare e4od to rebuild before my current one goes out just so I know that I am doing it correctly and not having to do it twice. I’m 26 and I work in the auto industry and there are not many videos out there from the older generation that explain how to do things properly that they have learned not just “by the book” but through their professional hands on experience. I hope this video helps keep the trade alive. Videos like this are true gold to anyone that knows

      Nathan, Yes Sir that is the whole reason for my channel! "Hands on Real World" Auto and Truck repair. This literally is my first You-Tube video so not my best but it gets to the point. Be sure to check out my other videos on the E4OD/4R100 as there are many and ALL have good info on properly diagnosing and fixing these transmissions and getting it "Right" the first time. Thanks for the comment good luck in your automotive travels as this is not an easy industry to navigate anymore. Welcome to the channel

    Have a 1995 5.0 Flairside with this transmission. Shifts hard out of 1st, revs high before going into 4th. Sounds like I need to replace the solenoid pack? Very cool watching this complete tear down an rebuild, never messed with transmissions before. Can't wait since my rear main seal is leaking might as well work on it while it's out.

      Rob Welcome to the channel! Yeah the 2-3 shift requires the direct clutch to come on which is also comes on in reverse, Does it have a solid reverse engagement and holds strong in reverse? If it were the solenoid pack it most likely would have problems shifting in two different gears but cant rule it out. My guess is most likely in the Accumulator valve body in the 3rd gear valving line-up. Check out my "Whos in Control" video and my "Trango Tugger Kit " install video for more info on this transmission. Thanks for the comment !

    I was wondering if the pump and output shaft seals of E4OD and 4R100 transmissions are similar to the AOD \ 4R70W & 4R75W \ AODE (IN TERMS OF CASE AND OR DIAMETER..?)

    I’ve got the 96 7.3 truck does not go into any gears. I can spin the driveline by hand in all gears but park. In your video 12:51 you show the trans clicking into a gear 👍 which kinda told me I’m screwed. Any thoughts

    Very well done. What transmission rebuild kits do you recommend?
    Thank you

      @marshallsanders5672  Před 5 měsíci

      Most overhaul kits are TransTec seal and gasket kits no matter where you get it from. And I recommend Borg Warner clutches you can’t beat them!

    I have a 97 F350 Dually. 130,000 miles on it. Runs great but transmission acts a little funny. Has the banks transmission computer on it. I wonder if that’s the problem.

    • @marshallsanders5672
      @marshallsanders5672  Před 2 lety

      Just have to narrow down exactly what funny things it’s doing very probable. Is there a way to just turn off the program and drive it in stock configuration. That would give you a good baseline to start at !

      Oh gotcha! I live in Clarksburg MD. I’m in the middle of some serious Homesteading at the moment. There’s just never enough time to take on everything! Sounds like you have a fleet of trucks ?

      @@marshallsanders5672 I bought a 97 f350 standard cab 7.3 in 01 right out of college. Same red white color as the one in your video. Spent years modifying it via online boards. There wasn't a whole lot back then in regards to aftermarket stuff so a lot of us would just experiment. Have Dyno meets and things like that. Fast forward a few years ago I was tboned and it got totaled. I now have 2 other 7.3 obs trucks and 3 spare e4ods. One happens to be a BTS (Brian's truck shop) build that I grenaded the torque converter in. Anyways thanks for the reply and good luck with your adventures.

    What’s the approximate cost for a brand new transmission you could recommend on a 97 Ford, thank you sir.

      Stock slight upgrades rebuild 2500 up to 5000+ on a highly upgraded performance/ Heavy Duty rebuild. All depends on the upgraded parts that were installed

    I've got a 1994 E4OD in an RV that wants to upshift all the way to 4th gear right after hitting the gas from a stop and it won't down shift if I hit the gas at speed. It works fine shifting it manually. Any suggestions?

    • @marshallsanders5672
      @marshallsanders5672  Před rokem +1

      Damn that’s crazy ! Shift timing points are determined by road speed and engine load so I would be concentrating on Vehicle speed sensor/throttle position sensor and Manifold vacuum sensor, MAP and or boost sensor if it’s a diesel. Beings it 1994 hard to scan but absolutely necessary to get answers on all of those sensors. Is the tach erratic/ speedometer erratic etc. just a thought. Manually shifting overrides the computer when to shift so that sounds normal.

    • @MegaKencam
      @MegaKencam Před rokem

      @@marshallsanders5672 It's not a diesel (460). I bought a VSS and MLPS but they haven't been delivered yet. I was also going to make sure all the grounds were in good shape. The speedo seems fine and there is no tach but the engine runs normally.
      Do you think it hurt the transmission to drive it manually?

    • @marshallsanders5672
      @marshallsanders5672  Před rokem

      Absolutely not hurting it driving it manually ! That’s the only thing not burning it up shifting that early. I just hate parts changing and “hoping” it fixes itself but if you can’t scan it then that’s the only option. Gotta check for codes and scan it !

    • @MegaKencam
      @MegaKencam Před rokem

      @@marshallsanders5672 Other people have told me not to drive it manually so I didn't know. OBD1 isn't very helpful. The codes I got were:
      512 - Keep alive memory (KAM) test failed.
      633 - 4x4 switch is closed (it's not a 4x4)
      The parts were cheap and I read the MLPS goes bad on the older 94 and under trans.

    • @marshallsanders5672
      @marshallsanders5672  Před rokem

      Yep OBD 1 is a bitch! Manually shifting is just fine and beneficial in this instance because if it shifts that early than it just strains the Clutches by lugging it up to speed. Those codes sound erroneous and not giving any beneficial indication of the problem. The MLPS seems ok at this point to me because all your Manually shifting is working and it mainly reads the MLPS for manually shifting.
