Can Brood War Zerg Infest StarCraft 2 Command Centers?

  • Playing 2 Zerg vs 2 Terrain in StarCraft 2, but with a twist. I am using Brood War Zerg. I want to see what happens if a Brood War Queen tries to Infest a StarCraft 2 Command Center. Mod name: SC: Evo Complete.

    So Infested Command Center is even more situational in SC Evo? Kinda sad

      They said they have disabled it for SC2 command centers until they create some custom interaction. I would say that normal CCs should become normal ICCs, PF should become ICC but with a nerfed PF cannon and no way to lift off, and OC should become ICC with scan ability (but costing double energy)

    Maybe SC EVO complete devs should just use the Nydus Warren as the Queen's Nest instead of the Infestation Pit and SC2 Beta Evolution Chamber, I hope they made it in future patches 😁.

    Also, I think (Volatile) Infested Terran of Sc1 Infested Command centre should get an small visual overhaul: Change the model to a custom model, that is basicly a combination of Sc2 Volatile Infested and Sc1 Marine, or use an different model that fit the description from Curseforge and the like; Change the building and production icon to picture of new model, or to picture of unit's portrait; Change the name for either Volatile Infested Terran, or Exploder Infested Terran.

      I think all units that appear in both games will eventually get their own models. It happened in the last update with Mutalisks and Overlords. For some weird reason, Broodlings use the Locust model instead of the Broodling one. They've stated that they only want to use models that they consider perfect. For example, there are models for the Robotics Facility to make it a bit more like SC1 but they won't use it and use the SC2 model until they make/find one they like.

      @@Taron_HaiTar the Robo model was used in MR. But it's not up to their standards so they aren't using it. They don't really like Mass Recall

      @@xetanth87 Understandable, Mass Recall is as janky as the Original Starcraft 1, just in Starcraft 2 and it's own unique ways! I still liked most, if not all, Terran buildings designs (which are clearly evident, by how I can remember them almost instantly, *compared to the rest, which I almost always forget!* ).
      I think it would be fair to give an option for toggling Mass Recall models as a placeholder, instead of Starcraft 2 + they *defenitly* need the better placeholder for the Queen's nest, because infestation pit is too weird to be an placeholder, atleast for me! (Maybe they already did, by the time I writing this comment.)

      I think SC2 SC1 models is already fine (like SC2 Firebats, Goliaths, Volatile Infested, Sunken Colonies, etc.) instead of paying for the new models. It could be cheap you know 😁.

    Atleast I've read your reply on the other comment here and it gave me hope!
    Now, here is an idea for Infested Sc2 Command Centers:
    Regular Sc2 Infested Command Centre will act as almost normal - able to morph into Planetaries and Orbitals with double lenth of a morph than Un-infested version, able to produce an Infested SCVs, lift-off and land like Un-infested version! Infested SCVs would be just a castrated in build options SCV with Zerg regen, but that can build on Creep aswell as on NOT Creep these Infested buildings - Bunker, Missile Turrets, CCs, Supply Depos, Vespene refineries, E-bays with Infested upgrades - with a toggle to build *all* Infested Structures in "More Balance edition" of SC Evo, the one with custom units. For balance can add passive debuff, that prevents SCV repair on Regular Infested CCs, with an option to give it to all Infested Structures;
    Infested Orbitals instead of building SCVs, builds Infested Civilians as a Reactored building, with Scan and Extra Depos, but without MULEs and replace them with Creep Tumor drop where there's Creep and vision, visually in a drop-pod like MULEs + can optionally reduce energy regen in half for balance, with an difference of being able to build SCVs and not Civilians in "More Balance edition" of SC Evo, when "can build all Infested Structures" toggle is on;
    The only difference of Infested Planetary from normal is, that it builds permanent Infested Marines (campaign version without Infested Rockets anti-air attack) instead of SCVs, with the same thing with toggle like in Orbital + several characteristics/stats can be tweaked - mainly turning and attack speed.

      I think your idea is a bit overkill. Because it can only happen with BW Zerg+SC2 Terran (1 out of 21 possible matchups in 1v1), this interaction doesn't need to be too complicated. From what I've read, Infested Terran never appear in pro BW games. They only appeared a few times in ZvP because there were maps with neutral Command Centers

      @@xetanth87 My thought process on this is "if it's *so* niche, go crazy, have fun, mostly casuals or fun-seeking players will use this!".
      It wouldn't hurt to add that idea, it only will make stuff more fun! + Some stuff for balance is already there, so it would be fair anyway!

      @@xetanth87 Also, if my idea is *too* crazy, here's the "normal" version of it:
      Sc2 Infested Command Centre works just like the Sc1 Counterpart, only it builds Sc2 Volitile Infested at a faster or at SCV's building rate instead of Sc1 Infested Terran, with an researchable Stukov Co-op Leap upgrade inside it + it can morph into Planetary and Orbital, just at double morph time length and Infested;
      Infested Planetary is the same, just capable of building WoL Campign permanent Infested Marine;
      Infested Orbital only has 2 major changes, one of which is optional - the optional one is cut in half energy regen, the other one is "Drop Creep Tumor" instead of MULEs at a (optional) double the energy cost. "Drop Creep Tumor" needs creep and vision to be placed.
      Optional balance suggestions from original comment still can be applied to this idea aswell.

      I think SC Evo should just use Stukov infested buildings to be use instead of just CC's to produce Infested units for more dynamic play, because in professional match ups they're nearly never use 😁.

      @@unnamedlegeon It could be a toggle for "more balance" edition, together with expanded Infested SCV construction list toggle.
      Also, *Infesting Command Centers is litterally a one of the most nieche mechanics in Starcraft,* so your point of "never using Infested CCs" is kinda pointless in the first place + Stukov's Infested buildings ate either more suited for separate faction or too unbalanced to be added, so it's better to add Infested Buildings from Campaign (mainly Wings of Liberty) instead!
