- OUR FOOD FOR THE JOURNEY The Word Exposed with Cardinal Tagle (August 11, 2024)
We are on the Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time; in today’s gospel, we would hear the Jews murmuring about Jesus. How can he be the bread that came down from heaven.
So, they asked amongst themselves, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph? Do we not know his father and mother?” To address this, Jesus reminds them of what is written in the prophets-that all shall be taught by God, and all who learned from God would come to him. Those who believe has eternal life.
He also explains to them that while the hunger of their ancestors in the desert was satisfied by the manna, the mysterious bread from heaven, they still died. But those who would eat of the living bread will live forever. This bread, brothers and sisters, is Jesus’s flesh, which as revealed later on, was freely given and sacrificed on the cross “for the life of the world.”
We are on a journey from one place to another but to the father. Do we take seriously our journey to the eternal life with the father? Jesus is the food for that journey. Will we come to Jesus in faith and eat his flesh?

Lord Jesus Christ, you are the living bread which sustains me in this life. May I always hunger for the bread which comes from heaven and find in it the nourishment and strength I need to love and serve you wholeheartedly. The word that should be accepted in this gospel is that following Jesus Christ by observing all His commandments will yield full satisfaction of man's hungers and needs with so much excess

Our food for the journey is merely ding what one wants to do
Heed the gospel that enjoined to rest awhile
It is sad to witness people leading lives hungry of their necessities in spite of the full satisfaction with excess
The word in this gospel is not about any bread but only the bread of life
The seed in this gospel that should be made to grow is the word that proclaimed that constant and perpetual observance of all his commandments is the bread of life that will give full satisfaction with excess
What's the sense of purpose expounding on our food for the journey when the gospel is commanding man to love the word incarnate with all ones hearts,mind and soul by following Jesus constantly, perpetually thereby receive full satisfaction with much excess
Man should not work for food that perishes rather observe all his commandments because observance of all His commandments will last unto eternal life.Did we observe His commandment by making the church a market place of offerings?
The bread of life is the fruit of the seeds that the land has to grow while the soweer rests and asleep.Unfortunately the seeds has been dried up by missioners who need to rest awhile
Food for the journey absolutely made the face of the word incarnate dark as a nebula and the clothes of the word incarnate black as a pitch
Food for the journey completely hide the bread of life from the heart,mind and soul of every human being
Allow me dear brothers and sisters to say that the bread of life is the constant and perpetual determination to follow Jesus by observing his word as god which can be fulfilled by observing all his commandments.

How could christians make the word incarnate a bread of life when they are impressed with the thought of food for the journey instead of impressing in them the thought of following the word incarnate by observing all his commandments? Last week the gospel is a commandment to constantly and perpetually follow Jesus Christ in order for them to receive full satisfaction of all thejr needs with much excess.
Every gospel should be interpreted and accepted as one of all the commandments that should be observed by baptized christians'.Quite clearly "our food for the journey" is not a commandment
It is sad to witness the word incarnate being exposed in a manner that made the word incarnate dark and dazzling black as a pitch
"Our food for the journey" relegated Into the darkest abyss of oblivion man's obligation to observe all His commandments
"our food for the journey" makes christians lead a life without following all His commandments thereby living hungry for the bread of life
Is the word exposed the word incarnate?
