The album cover picture was taken in Howat St, Govan, Glasgow in the 1980, I was 4 years old and blowing bazooka Joe bubble gum was the reward for collecting and scavenging glass ginger bottles around the streets and bins for the ½ pence deposit, as children we didn't know how poor we where, innocence, laughter and imagination was our shield.
Simple Minds were just getting started!

How are they not huge? While they definitely tap into a similar emotional realm as BoC (which they don't own btw), they have a very distinct and unique take on their music which makes them almost weightless while still being distinctively punchy lo-fi, nostalgic and heart shattering.
Damn this might be one of their best records actually . Holy shit . Every track is a banger 🔥

The cover art is by French photographer Raymond Depardon who was snapping photos of street life in Glasgow, Scotland during the early 1980s. The two boys in the photo is a clear nod to the early life of the Boards of Canada brothers.
the image is amazing. perfect depiction of the dire state of the UK in the 70s, with worse to come.
Well spotted, I wondered if someone would have picked up where this photo came from. But I wonder if the artist was aware of the vast contrast to where this was shot and where BOC grew up (G51 vs EH14). Although the same country, worlds apart.

Beautiful album. Luckily YT recommended The Fade Beta by tagging the artist as a ´Boards of Canada similar artist´. My favorite track of this album is Never Get it Back. Never Get it Back is a wonderful tune because it helps to write new sci-fi worlds. :)

Someday is wonderful. Really as close to BOC as anyone has been. In the absence of the real thing this is really enjoyable
