Unrealistic - the drummer never started playing over their bandmates whenever they started talking song ideas 😂
THIS IS SO TRUE
True story
I came here just to comment this. 😂😂😂
The first real shit I've read down here that actually happens. Lol
@@corbinhoder3384 Then they look at you and you look back like "man I've gotta practice too"
10% playing and 110% talking - 1000% accurate
I see we have a drummer here
@@dlhowley nah man, just a self conscious band member
isn't that what band rehersals are about
And a lot of silly fucking about
First you have to tolerate 15 - 20 minutes of the guitar player tuning his guitar, ..(because you know he couldn't have done that prior to showing up for practice!!)
and of course, the bassist is always forgotten 😔😔
Nah, the bassists forgot to tell his mom that he had band practice
What is Bass??😂😂😂😂😂😂
Bassist?
Bass? Yes, I enjoy fishing now and then
Bassism..
You see, the bassist wasn't just forgotten,
He was late.
as a bassist this is too accurate
Wasn’t his fault. His girl took the truck and he’s trying to find a ride. 😂
Hey man he was busy taking a shit. Or buying a diet coke.
As always 😂 it’s so true.
I never noticed the bass player being absent. Then again most of the time they are in my band situations. Even when he/she is there
Everyone! The bass player WAS there. You just didn't see him...like every other bass player on earth.
He’s still waiting for the drummer to pick him up… but the drummer forgot.
Poor dad regretting his life decisions may the drummer one day make him proud

As a drummer I agree.
As a drummer I second this motion
the title reminds me of the guitarist (me) trying to tune the guitar but the drummer can't stop playing for a sec 💀
YES
Sorry that’s me
you wouldn't understand, we just don't stop, it's impossible.
get a tuner pedal
@@growskull i finally have one so this problem is solved 🙏
Never in all my years of playing in bands and writing songs have I ever heard someone pitch a song idea as just a collection specific scales and chords and execution of key changes lol
Yeah I feel like that part usually occurs more randomly and just a result of them playing chords without knowing their names and seeing what sounds good, rather than listing specific chords in a specific order.
I thought this. At first I thought that maybe hyper-technical jazz type bands might do it like that, but even then. Still a funny sketch though.
This is the kind of conversation that happens once a song is written and an arrangement is being built. Of course not this conversation because it's nonsense.
I play jazz, hip hop, funk, reggae, etc. and ppl usually throw out chord progressions in jams
@@chrisclancy6756 Well that is a lie.
God damn. As a music major. A drummer. A father. This was so close to home… it gave me chills. Well done
as a video, i approve of this drummer
"My age and my IQ are the exact same"
Me: playing by ear and having the same reaction as the drummer
I am a drummer in my school band and this is exactly what I hear, I also am constantly laughing in my head when I hear the teacher say something like “so if you guys could just breathe less I think your part would be really solid”.
They are saying that your tempo fluctuates too much.
dude this is so relatable as a fellow school band drummer
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a band full of people I know that I actually like, really say these things. They normally put one dude in charge of it all, and he tells them what to practice.
You must be fun at parties
@@variklane7032 you must be fun at parties
You both must be fun at parties. 😂
I'm definitely not taking either of you to any parties...
we had some level of democracy in our band, and it failed largely because of that. but basically someone would pitch their riff and we'd build a chord progression and bass line around it, and the drummer would just drum along and generally was left alone unless we needed him to do a certain thing. we mainly only had two song writers which was fine and we built songs pretty well that way, but our rhythm guitarist still insisted on pitching songs and tbf to him, one of the songs he "wrote" was one of the most popular ones we played live, even though all he did was come up with a really annoying riff which we figured out the chords for (and it basically ripped off quite a famous song as well as having an annoying riff). but this guy had a kind of small man complex, wanted to write all the songs but lacked talent. on our first gig, he wanted to solo over a song we'd written, and he soloed in the completely wrong key without even hearing himself, walking out and showing off around the stage. luckily it was our first gig and nobody was listening really, but he couldn't actually believe it when we showed him footage. say the song was in A, he was playing generic pentatonic minor in G, just thinking you could basically play anywhere on the fretboard as long as you knew a scale. dunno why he thought it or how it happened, or how he didn't hear himself, but we had to be very careful with him. we all agree now looking back and reminiscing that we didn't even need him in the band and would've been better without him, but thought at the time we could make him decent. also, he only had this old 'flying v' type guitar and insisted on playing it, even though we were doing a mixture of that post-punk, indie revival stuff along with noise and garage rock, and he looked like an emo with a metalhead's guitar. It was embarrassing.
Anyway, there is no place for democracy within most bands if you have an idea for the sound, have songs written etc. and have a vision for the project, unless you're in a rare group in which everybody gels and knows their place, but musicians just aren't like that very often.
and I don't get invited to parties anymore.
As a drummer, this is so true. Going to learn guitar as a second instrument so I can understand what the hell they are saying.
No you won't. You'll learn guitar to realize that they have no idea what the hell they're saying.
No literally me
As a drummer for a band, I completely understand this. in fact, I during songs, I will just wait until they get their rhythm and melody and all that stuff down and then I will just add drums to it afterwards cause I have no idea what they are talking about and I just kind of wing it and play. It sounds good and it usually comes out well
"I'm trying to take your mom to pound town upstairs" 😄😄 That was great!
I think I just found the channel that tells the story of my life as a drummer better than I ever could.
Love the G-bites music in the background
One question I have is... Where is the bassist?
standing in the corner not saying anything because he knows nobody will listen to him

I have been in many different bands in my life (I am old, I mean, I'm a "seasoned " drummer) and this is extremely accurate. Well, except for the dad part: He usually had earplugs in!
The roe v wade joke. “ I don’t even watch boxing.” I honestly laughed out loud.😂😂

I love how he put the Gorillaz G-Bitez music over this! Really adds some humor to the video!

I haven't started the video yet, but there better be something in here about the drummer noodling around in the background while the rest of the band is trying to do something else.
From this drummers perspective that’s spot on “ anger management!” You are only connected to the rest of the band when the band is generating music.

This was hilarious. Though basement band practice at my friend's house was aural camouflage for his parents to head to..."Poundtown"...not an interruption
As a drummer, I can say that I knew and contributed to the songwriting process because I also play guitar and other instruments. Most drummers I know play multiple instruments and are the perfectionists in their respective bands.
I'm a guitar and theory nerd and I can confirm I get absolutely no play
I know three drummers just like this lol. One of them started on guitar, the other two started as drummers who started writing songs on guitar and keyboards. They eventually got good enough that they could teach everyone else their songs and then go play drums or whatever instrument they wanted.
@@charlesmartiniii1405 I took four semesters of theory in college, I get you on the theory nerd front! Took it for fun as an accounting major, made me a better musician for sure.
@@josephwhite3401 dude kinda crazy I'm accounting to. I get private lessons on the side
OH 100% accurate on the perfectionist part!! Don't know how to play guitar very well, but I do have a background in music. I am always trying to help them get the rhythms, chords, or tempo correct. I feel so bad, but sometimes I even have to stop them in the middle of playing because their instruments aren't in tune. I love them though. So much fun playing percussion with all of them
Edit: I know another drummer who is well experienced that is also perfectionist. Even more than me sometimes.
Love it
When I was in a band it was smoking weed and getting nothing done, and when I brought it up I was asked to leave the band and now I make music alone and I actually prefer it like that. I’ll go through writers block when I come out of it I come up with some really neat stuff
