- It's been a while since the reverse pop-off from Cody Schwab, and times have changed... Cody has seemingly been my bracket demon for a while now, and I've been hard at work to finally prove that I'm not washed in Melee, and focused HARD on the Collision tournament. The result? Watch ;)

M2K has to be the most knowledgeable melee player that has ever existed. The dude literallt knows every corner of the game.
I know so many people who think he's washed and he doesn't remember the game and he doesn't know what he's talking about (namely the Milwaukee Melee community) and they're literally just making shit up. M2K has forgotten more about the game than most people will ever know
He basically built the melee equivalent of the library of Alexandria back in the early 2000s.
I always thought of m2k since retirement as the ancient hermit living high in the mountains, dispensing his wisdom to thoes who listen. This video confirms this.

Even though he doesn’t compete anymore I’m not sure if there’s a person with a deeper understanding of each character than him

You guys play so ridiculously fast that even when you break it down like this and pause it frame by frame, I'm still confused as to what's going on, and how quick things happen. Like, you guys have the reaction times of F1 drivers. Superhuman. It's insanely impressive. How much of this is instinct at this point, with you having played the game for nearly a quarter of a century now? And how much is you actually thinking just hyper fast, like when you talk about how you can decide in the very last split second where you want that Rest to hit so that you can react to their DI. Either way it's insanely impressive.
I feel the same way when watching Tetris. However, unlike Tetris this game has some infinite number of possible outcomes depending on spacing and other very minute details. Not to mention that you aren’t playing against a predictable game, but rather an actual person. To not only have to be able to think and react at an incredible level is one thing, but to do it all the while needing to predict, read, and learn your opponent’s tendencies is crazy.
@@brehella770don't get me wrong, melee is hard - but anyone can pick up the game and understand it IMO. The reason why the game looks so incomprehensible to an untrained eye is because there's simply a lot to know.
It's the hours of practice and planning and thinking and analysis that let instinct be that fast. But when it's go time? Be ready and let your hands sing
I used to hate seeing you win all the time pre-COVID, but my god, seeing you clutch on these kids and your bracket demon, Cody, no less was an absolute joy to watch. I can't get over how insanely clutch you were in game 1. I know you're the ClutchGod, but damn! Beautiful stuff man, keep it up! :)
You never lost it man, you're still the GOAT. If you ever went back to grinding like you used to, no one would stand a chance. I'm glad to see you just having fun these days though instead of stressing. And whenever you show up like this, I just consider it a rare treat 🙌

What I wouldn't give to record top-level smashers with such different playstyles wearing eye trackers. When do they flick to the stock and damage counters? When do they watch their opponent's movement, when do they check their own position on stage? When are they checking the timer on Yoshi's Story? When are they watching for stage hazards?

Hearing the crowd cheering for Hbox was incredible. I think its been a while since Cody faced hbox in "I actually want to win mode" and I have heard that hbox in that mode is insane and makes it hard to play him. I have heard hbox is like a wild animal when in this mode and grunts and has heavy breathing which is honestly incredible and I love it.
