Thank you for this video. I love seeing older games highlighted. So many channels are nothing but the "latest and greatest" or overhyped kickstarter that won't be released for another year or two(if ever).
I've been talking about this game a lot over the past couple of years. It is amazing and massively underrated. Why don't you come to Devon for the weekend and we can do a live stream playthrough of it? :)
Nice review. I'll probably snatch this up if it shows up in a trade or auction. It gives me strong vibes of The Great Zimbabwe (but streamlines), sharing: * stacking temples levels * theme of pleasing various gods * spatial puzzle * animals as currency * turn order shenanigans

Is it just me or is there a ton of rules grit that isn’t easily tracked or kept open of mind during the game? How influence works, what turn it is, what reign it is? Seems like the design is hard to use without referring to middle pages in the rule book.
Idk, I'm struggling to understand the scoring in this game esp wrt the dignitaries/influence/bonuses. I'm afraid we'll have to wing it (rulebook in hand) as we play the game later today. I normally don't like to have to continue to refer to a middle page in a rulebook to figure out what's supposed to happen next. So no, it's not just you :) We will see (hope to have more confidence after a play or 2, fingers crossed).

I personally don't find it too onerous, but concede that the round structure is a little bit choppy. I think it reads worse than it actually plays.

For some reason reminds me a bit of Zapotec. This looks more fun though. Perhaps they should re-release it with a graphic design update.
