I LOVE LOVE LOVE InkOwl! I save so much money on ink, just did a printhead repair (my fault getting air into printhead, but easy fix!), and really love NOT buying & throwing all of those cartridges away. And it is so easy to refill the ink tanks (as long as I pay attention to when they are getting low). THANK YOU INKOWL!!!

I have bought InkOwl's products to make my OfficeJet Pro 8000 printer into a super printer. I added the big tanks and can add ink on the fly. This has worked great. I let the ink get too low one time and bubbles appeared in the lines. I purchased this kit and cleared the lines. This fixed that problem. Yeah! Now today, my printer stopped printing (mid job) and gave an error on both print heads at the same time "MC" & "KY". This means a printhead issue, but I suspect this is an end of life issue since both ceased at exactly the same time. Now doing research on how to override this. I want to add that a friend found this printer on a curb with a "free" sign, and I found out its value. I spent some time learning how it works, thus finding InkOwl. They add value to their products by including great instructions with their products. Now I print my ski club newsletters on it each month and enjoy my "new" printer. Thanks InkOwl for great products and instructions!

+Kim X Thank you for the kind words! You are right, if the printer is actually warning you that the printheads have an issue, this means that something electronic in there is now broken. Doesn't help that they both failed at the same time. You could buy two new HP printheads to try to recover the printer, but that would be as expensive as buying a brand new printer! Therefore, we'd recommend the latter.

I have a HP office jet pro 8500 that is programmed to recognise ink cartridges. If I use anything other than a genuine PH product is malfunctions. I have tied the extended size cartridges several times unsuccessfully. Shame on PH not allowing the use of competitors products and excessive use of ink.

Sr. I have a little bit problem. in past I refill heads and they work, but after several refilings the light of non existing head is blinking and the printer do not recognize the heads at all. I thing this is more electronic matter because always in the past I refill heads were work.

That's right, if the printer is unable to recognize a printhead, it is an electronic issue. You can try cleaning the electrical contacts on the printhead if they are dirty, but if that fails, I'm afraid you will need to purchase a new printhead from HP.

Ok I have an HP officejet 8500 A plus uses the 940 printheads. It stopped printing black only and will not do an alignment. Yellow still prints. I weighed the print head dont have a gram scale but it weighs in at 1.6 oz which is roughly 45.5 grams when converted. Would this be a possible fix for this printhead?

It sounds like this tool will do the trick. So long as the printer is not actually prompting you on-screen to change the printhead, I strongly recommend using this tool. Be sure to get some high-quality pigmented HP 940 ink to pass through.

interested in buying this. Meanwhile, is there a special type of ink you use to refill printheads as opposed to the one you use to refill ink cartridges?

No, the ink is the same in the printhead as the ink cartridges.

Oh yes, and your videos are superb, UK suppliers are not good at this.
I would buy from you if you were UK :-)

We do ship to the UK. Our fee is just $12.95. We ship with the US Postal Service, so it takes between 1-2 weeks to arrive. However, it is your responsibility to pay any local sales taxes as required by UK customs regulations (collected by your mailperson).

Inside this printhead, there is a plastic bag.
The method of this video might damage such plastic bag?

Any kind of procedure like this always carries a small risk of breaking the head, that's why it should only be done on a printhead that's not working anyways. That being said, the risk is really very small, most of our customers who buy this tool are successful at restoring the ink flow though their head.

Visit inkowl.com, we do carry a similar tool for the HP 11 heads.
