In this vid I will show you how to dye nylon surplus items. Always follow the recommended written instructions on package! However. experiment as needed for your preferred taste!
That turned out better than I expected, I have a field jacket "acu" I've been wandering what to do with it.now you gave me the best idea. Thanks brother.
Looks AWESOME!! When you mentioned CADPAT, I laughed because when I first saw the pack on your chair, I said to myself that it looked like CADPAT green! Great job! Thanks for sharing the info!
I have a variety of surplus rucksacks. I have the big kitchen sink ACU large, the woodland ruck with mss carrier, and a medium Alice pack. I want to dye the ACU one, dark blue, along with the pouches, straps and kidney belt. I also have another set of ACU straps that I want to dye olive, along with a DCU kidney pad. Great video. Hope ya get more subs.
When You use Rit Apple Green Dye to dye Army Combat Uniform ( ACU) Universal Camouflage Pattern ( UCP), the fatigues end up looking like Mexican Army pixelated Camouflage Pattern, Russian Army Digital Flora,or, CADPAT Uniform.
Yup, I did 2 of them (ACU) , but I do 4 oz Green apple to 2 tablespoons of choclate in 3 gals of hot water along with the Salt n Vinegar. Came out good and I also did a boonie n ball cap.
You can find videos of brown. It comes out really dark and a little red, so in the red clay of Arizona go for it. Otherwise brown doesn't seem to be good for a whole lot else.
When I used the RIT Dark Brown Dey powder variety, all of my sample pieces (both cotton/nylon and nylon) turned purple, so beware and make sure to try it on a few pieces of spare equipment first.
Thanks for the video Nick. Yeah, the ACU doesn't work for me either. Don't understand that pattern at all. Maybe if you were in the desert sand at night or get transported into a Call of Duty video game (LOL)..
I'd like to go for a deeper "Ranger Green". Can you recommend a dye color or mixture and proportion of multiple colors to get there? RIT makes a "Dark Green" and an "Emerald Green". Maybe onea those and a smidge of Black? Maybe the Apple Green (+black) is still the ticket? Thanks in advance!
Robert West, It depends how big of a container you plan in using and how hot you can keep the dye bath. All of those at once probably won’t fit into a 5 gal bucket without over flowing during the stirring. I would recommend the washing machine method. And I would use a whole bottle. If it’s too light, do again with another bottle.
I use 1/2 cup apple green, 1/4 cup dark green and 2 tablespoons of charcoal grey, comes out an olive/foliage green color. The brightness from just apple green is too bright for me.
Camouflage is called UCP not ACU, ACU stands for Army Combat Uniform, UCP stands for Universal Camouflage/Combat Pattern, not like it matters, just some helpful info so you aren’t mislead Also someone else came up with this, I’m not gonna watch your whole video so I hope you give them props

Awesome video, never would have thought to do this! If only the army did this haha
This technique is making the rounds on CZcams.
Thanks for the tips Nick... Not easy being green...
Outstanding video!!!! Colors came out Great.

That's looks pretty awesome though. Great job! The ACU pattern showing makes it awesome looking.
Jason Mashburn thanks man!
Bruce inspired a whole bunch of people who are dyeing ACU sutff
I thought I couldn’t dye it. Wish I would’ve kept some of that ugly ACU. Thanks will try this!
I like the different shades i think it will help to break up the outline better at distance.
Reminds me a little of the Canadian digital woodland.....
Close to ATACS FG or Pencott Greenzone
Outstanding.

Very cool
Esse virides non est facile!!! Great video!
I like it!
Nice and simple.
It came out that way because you used an ENTIRE bottle of dye! Sheesh
Nice job
Green apple looks good. Has anyone tried more of a desert tan or brown, if so how did it turn out?

@BLACK RAIN ARMS did you mix 50/50?

Looks good... kinda looks like Mexican army
ACU’s
would you recommend Rit Peacock Green?
Wonder what this would look like next to Atacs FG?
If I want to dye a full uniform (pants, blouse, pack, and booney hat) how much water and bottles of dye should I use? Thanks!

Winters Kamp thank you. Our washer hot line doesn't work. I may have to skip the pack. I'm doing this for hunting and can maybe get by without a pack.
Robert West you could use some hot water in a large tub if it doesn’t fit in a 5 gallon bucket
Nathan C. I may do that. Thank you! I know I want them to all match so I would want to dye them together.
Looks like the Mexican army uniform color
What’s the name of that backpack or where did you get it
That's really good, impressive you didn't get any on you!
Outdoors-Z-y Z lol, it actually got my socks when I dumped the bucket out. But, hey, it’s just socks.
@@WintersKamp oh, then those are good for making sock puppets!
Can I use the same process to dye my acu pattern tactical vest or will it not work?
Yes, you sure can!
No salt?
Acu digital blows that 🍏 color is a lot better
Is it possible to dye gore-tex the same way?
Алексей Чернышев I haven’t tried. I’m afraid it might impact the water resistant capabilities.
Do you use just regular RIT dye?
Chuck G yes
Is the camel pack od green. What is the materials thanks
Micah Frye , it was originally a tan / grey color made from nylon.
Look more similar to the camo that the Mexican army uses
I wonder how ACU dyed with Rit dark green color dye would turn out.
I use 1/2 cup apple green, 1/4 cup dark green and 2 tablespoons of charcoal grey, comes out an olive/foliage green color. The brightness from just apple green is too bright for me.
Now it looks like Russian EMR camouflage
Polyester is what Rit DyeMore is for.
Vindication!
Very similar to the camouflage of the Mexican Army
PURA PINCHÉ SEDENA ALA VERGA COMPA 🔥💪💪💪🔥🔥🔥
