I find the hopper in my P-68 also gets sticky after 4-5 tons through it. I believe it’s actually my pellets themselves being 100% softwood pine actually excrete sap in just the slightest bit and it builds up after long periods. Instead of the wax I simply scrub down the whole interior with mineral spirits and get it back to smooth as silk. Might try the ceramic coat after the spirits though; could prolong the need for cleanings! Also, been watching your channel for a long time - I’m coincidentally a fellow tundra driver and P-68 owner. Your thermostat video especially changed my life!

@@DIYJIM I decided to go with the Turtle Wax hard shell wax and, at first I didn't think it worked. However, once I left it alone it kind of snuck up on me that nobody in the family was shifting the pellets throughout the day. I guess it worked. Thanks!

    Car-new-bah wax.
It's interesting, I have a P-68 and it doesn't have that aluminum piece inside like yours does. I've never had any issues with pellets sticking but ceramic coating sounds like a great idea. Carnauba wax is very slick but doesn't last as long as ceramic.
Just an interesting side note if anyone cares. My wife uses ceramic coating on the walls of the showers in the bathrooms every several months. They look great and it keeps that soap scum from sticking.
    Peace and God bless!

Jim, one of the problems of burning softwoods is there are sometimes lots of fines[sawdust] in the bags.
the fines accumulate down above the slideplate. sort of get caked a bit.. this prevents pellets from dropping thereby the pellets don't move But appear to be sticking to sides when in fact they are not.. thought i would share this as it happens to me quite often. some people sift the pellets 1st but i don't want to be picking up and moving a 40lb bag more than one time to pour. i usually will just open the hopper and move them around so they drop..[ this works fine if u or someone else is home thruout the day to do it that one time it is needed.

Having the same issue with my Harman P38. I was thinking a good wipe down and then a light coating of silicon spray but the wax sounds like a better idea. Thanks for the suggestion.
