  • Teesdale Way (Pennine Way) with @ramblingwoman Day 7: Middleton-in-Teesdale to Langdon Beck
9 miles and 950ft of ascent
    Walked 22 October 2022
Many thanks to Cole Porter for the music, my favourite song, 'Don't fence me in'
The Teesdale Way is a 92 mile Long Distance Path, running between the Cumbrian Pennines, through County Durham and out to the North Yorkshire Coast.
The section between Middleton-in-Teesdale and Dufton, (Days 7 and 8 of this series), also forms part of the Pennine Way. The route includes the dramatic geological formation High Cup Nick, and High Force, one of England's most impressive waterfalls. At Middleton-in-Teesdale, the routes separate and the Teesdale Way travels towards the east coast, passing sites of historical interest such as Barnard Castle. As the River Tees moves towards the sea, the route passes monuments to England's industrial and maritime heritage, including the iconic Transporter Bridge.
Many people choose to walk the route from the mountains out to the sea. However, I live on the coast and regularly see ships heading to the mouth of the Tees when I take my daily walks on the beach. Consequently I wanted to follow the river up-stream: to learn how this river came to be known as the 'Mighty Tees'. I hope you enjoy sharing this journey with me, and that one day you might walk some or all of it yourself.
    Happy Walking

Thank you so much for this series of videos. Just spent a Sunday afternoon watching them all. Thinking of doing the Weardale and Teesdale Ways myself at some point. Well done on getting it done. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💪🏻🥾

Thank you. I'm so glad you enjoyed watching. I know I ramble on while rambling on, but taking the videos makes me stop and look around. The Teesdale Way was a far more beautiful and more challenging walk than I'd ever anticipated. It's definitely given me a taste for river walking and the Weardale trail is now on my 'to do' list too
