  • The OMNIS-DUO is a new portable all-in-one system from AlphaTheta, the company that (you probably didn't know) owns Pioneer DJ.
In a press release this week across all of Pioneer DJs' social media accounts, AlphaTheta released a statement announcing its arrival as a brand.
In this review, we discuss all its new features, including its unique input and output Bluetooth connectivity and built-in battery for 5 Hours of non-stop beats.
Does this mean the end of Pioneer DJ? Who knows! But what we do know is that AlphaTheta is ready to make some noise in the industry with some very BOLD new products, starting with the OMNIS-DUO.
Check out the review and let us know your thoughts.

    • @ruk2023--
      @ruk2023-- Před 5 měsíci

I don't understand your point. Technics became virtually unknown because they didn't move into the digital DJ market. Pioneer DJ are still the number one product brand used in every single DJ booth in clubs and festivals. It cost them millions upon millions in marketing and advertising to achieve that status. Why throw away that brand cachet and ability to price accordingly on a product line nobody has heard of unless you're told it's owned by the company that owns Pioneer DJ?@@speedygeoff9595

So far I am quite dissapointed. Let me start with saying it's great to see that AT/Pioneer DJ are trying to move forward to streaming, wireless, party/bluetooth song request kind of modes for those house parties or jam sessions on the go. But there are a lot of major oversights for me, and things that Denon/Numark already do better at a better price point.
Moving away from physical buttons and having to take more steps to get where you are on the machine whilst in the mix is something I have experienced on a variety of Denon gear, up to the SC6000 even which is brilliant. Pioneer or AT (this will age like X/twitter...) always has had its strong suit on having the same physical button layout, everything from memory cue and loop to hot cue / play cue buttons and mixer controls are all the same on the whole scala of their products, this was a major strong point. Any DJ with experience on pioneer gear is able to play a set with 0 set up time regardless of what the venue is set up with, this seems to fade away with this product and assumably more so in the future. I strongly wonder about responsiveness of the buttons and the interface, the waveforms seem cramped and tiny on the screen as they're surrounded by the on screen buttons. The bluetooth song record and manipulation is a cool idea, but I wonder how much use it will get and how it will sound on some pa speakers. Personally I am missing the following buttons: Slip/Quantize, Master Tempo, second bank of cue button levels for beat loop and effects, Color FX selector, the brilliant FX section, headphones cue buttons, track search, physical browse and playlist buttons. No jog wheel lights is a shame but I can understand with battery power and size, but it is an iconic touch that is gone on this unit. Then one gripe I really cannot get over with, even for house parties and on the go: Where is the second usb A slot? It probably won't also work with a tiny usb hub or will it? How do you swap dj's now that are not on SD cards. And there is no major streaming service integration so you can't really hop on to one of those, play a track and swap usb.
I guess as a hardcore Pioneer fanboy it is time to invest in the last holy grail setup and watch that age like fine Technics wine. Any thoughts of others or Crossfade themselves?

Perhaps it was enabled in an update after this video, but you can stream! A local Sacramento, CA. DJ shop demoed streaming Spotify to this controller via Bluetooth. The controller caches up to 10 minutes of audio and you can manipulate the track just like an mp3 (scratch/add effects/loop/etc). Crazy!

The biggest reason is the licensing deals that they will have to contend with when it comes to adding streaming services to access to these devices! It doesn’t start and stop with Tidal, SoundCloud or us the customer.

On the streaming issue, I would imagine the licensing and legal effort would be immense, because you have to work out deals with each streamer, who then have to update their user agreements to include licensing the music for public performance, which is technically illegal still.

just before i carry on with the video, the bluetooth idea is smart but is the latency near 100% accurate because it was either the ddj 200 or 400 or both had bluetooth for we dj and the latency between using the mixer and sound output was annoying.

They clearly don't want to associate legacy and established club products released under the former Pioneer Dj brand with Alpha Theta. This product release coming out at the same time a rebranding is going on shows a new direction from now on. IMO they want to put ore focus on everyday DJs and content creators.

Not feeling the look but it has full sized jogs unlike the Prime Go and the 4 extra hot cue buttons over the Mixstream Pro....but that price though yesh. Based on this - the OPUS Quad look appears to be the future of "Pioneer DJ" or whatever it is now. I'll be holding onto my DDJ 1000SRT extra tight now.
Side note after Jaime demonstrated the wireless speaker with the interface for low latency, I think the first portable unit to come with a low latency bluetooth option built in will dominate that market.

I think AT/pionnerdj are having troubles in knowing what djs actually want . The console which came before till DJM A9, they all looked like a dj console, complicated machines but fun when you know how to use it . Nowadays they are realising stuff which looks like a showpiece. I personally would feel bored after sometime to play with these players . Hopefully AT realises it and comes back making products that are actually dj products. Not some toy to play with.

For less you can get Rane One or not much more, Rev 7.
When I started back in 91, i never thought I'd go digital but now I'm on board but this is bewildering and seems more like a vanity project than a step forward.

One more thing is the breakout box for low latency layout..... Come on! Who wants to have this sonic link thingmidget dangling on the wires. So it's wireless.... with wires.... Last but not least if it's a unit to move from CDJ's why not fully replicate the look and feel of a CDJ Same buttons, same layout? Otherwise cool device.

Dude, take off the rose-tinted glasses! 😂
This thing is heavily over-priced and heavily under-powered! It's the DJ controller equivalent of when Apple started removing ports from their computers and phones and said "but don't worry, you can use an adapter that you have to pay extra for to replicate the same functionality of the older models". It's an absolute joke.
The FLX-4 has better functionality and is 82% cheaper (based on Australian prices) all so that you get a controller that looks like a kids toy, with an average battery life, and a Bluetooth gimmick that you'll never use...
No club DJ or mobile professional in their right mind would want all that wasted button real estate on the controller in exchange for having to click on a little overcrowded touchscreen for every single other function and I'm not even sure if you can even replicate all the standard PioneerDJ features anyway!
You must clearly work for Alpha-Theta if you think this is a *great* product that will actually help the industry! 😂
