    Breakfast. Zip lock bag. 4 crushed up weetabix or muesli. 2 spoons of milk powder. 1 spoon of sugar. Add warm or cold water. Job done. That or a full English 😋

    I recently tried Proteinworks stuff . Their breakfasts are yummy, and the savoury stuff is not bad either. I got bored of Huel, hence me trying something new. I recently got some nice tent meals in their sale, that's also something to look out for, especially if you are looking for vegan options. Supermarket things I tried, to be budget friendly, were he little instant flavoured couscous packets from Lidl. I add either dried tomatoes or some beef jerky into those to give them more substance. These bars from Jimmy Joy look promising and a good up and go alternative for breakfast .

      Oooh some really interesting ideas there! Thank you! Yes someone else mentioned the Tent Meals were quite good, I’ll have to check out protein works, I’ve not heard of them before 😄 omg yes couscous, how could I forget that! I love the sachets, and they are so cheap too x thanks for watching 🤗🤗🤗

      @@DrunkOnWanderlust ….. I think long videos put some people off, due to shorter concentration spans but I watch my favourite channels on the big screen and they’re better than anything on tv or Hollywood movies. Thanks again 💜🍻

    Greetings and great you're back. I use all those things you've mentioned. As a diabetic some food types are out. Keep powdered eggs for cakes. I got a pack of rice crackers from a Chinese supermarket in Preston opposite the station - they weigh nowt and look like a plastic square until dropped in hot oil when they look familiar. I make my own MRE's and snack bars. Plus a bits bag from ration packs. I could make my own Bitong too with my dehydrator. I always have some glucose tabs in my bag due to my health. Tiny tins of Makerel. Peanut butter is a cyclists staple. Trying to get posts of food packs is dodgy, do Lidl, Aldi.

      Hi there Mark!!! 😄🙌 rice crackers? Hmm not sure about that I don’t like rice cakes so not sure I would be into them x you’ll have to send me your recipe for snack bars … I made savoury flapjacks yesterday xx was amazing

    I dehydrate my own stuff you can do most things and rehydrate just like the firepot etc meals and you can do jerky lol I also buy freeze dried veggie stuff and peanut/coconut powder and add them to pot noodles/ramen, Idaho potato and big on wraps and sweaty mini cheeses lol. But generally don’t do the breakfast lunch dinner I eat stuff whenever I want it 🙄

    I love tentmeals, good natural food, tiny and light to carry. All meals covered.
    Or, cous cous with added veg or saltanas etc.
    I love a Wayfarer or Ration pack meal too.

    Real Turmat is my absolute favourite, even their snaaaaaaaaack bars are great. Outdoor Provisions nut butter sachets are to die for, I'm so glad they do cashew and almond and not just peanut/hazelnut as I am allergic (would be my last trail otherwise!). I always try to look for discount codes and then get a few extra to save for later. Love my porridge in the morning! I have a lot of dehydrated mushrooms from foraging which could be nice with noodles, couscous etc. Looking forward to your adventures!

    Ahh loved this. I'm trying to find the right thing to take for when we're on the road for ages without access to a fridge. Would Jimmy's work do you think?
    Re taking stuff to add to noodles, I'm a big fan of my dehydrator for fruits and veggies. But you can also make your own meat jerky in these which would definitely save money and mean you've got lightweight protein on hand. I think things like pumpkin seeds are also a winner to get keep your magnesium levels up and help avoid muscle cramping.

    Great video
    On a long hike (say over 20days), what I’ve noticed is that hikers don’t think of food as ‘breakfast, lunch, dinner’, but as calories, etc, or as ‘food’ to consume
    Nothing says you have to have traditional ‘breakfast’ items at breakfast….the key is fuel to the body, and most I’ve hiked with snack all day on ‘food’

    Was just wondering if you have to carry extra water to hydrate your foods or do you carry a water filter and obtain it from the wild? Just thinking a hydated backpacking meal might not be much heavier with no need to add water? Must say the meal you trialled is worth a try.

    • @DrunkOnWanderlust
      @DrunkOnWanderlust  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Hi there David, I just carry a filter bottle which is extremely lightweight … I filter as I go along so no need to carry extra water, we usually camp next to a water source
