I'm 54 and I want to learn how to ride a bike. No one to teach me so I'm searching YT for lessons. Thank you for this.
I watched this video and I would like to report that this video (along with one more video) helped me learn how to ride a bike at 29 years old! I never thought I could do it but this video gave me the one thing that the others didn’t: the instruction to push down on the pedal with force, which helped me greatly! I’m so grateful ❤️ now I’m on my way to riding a motorcycle! Wish me luck!
I'm glad this could help. You won't have to push the pedal so hard on the motorcycle as it only shifts gears :-) Another important thing to keep in mind: The right-hand lever on a motorcycle operates the front brake. In the USA, the left-hand lever operates the front brake. If you would like to know the (indeed stupid) reason for this, you'll find it at sheldonbrown.com/brakturn.html.
if you continue to ride a bicycle as well, you will want to switch the brake cables. Otherwise you may find yourself using the clutch on the motorcycle when you mean to brake, or the rear brake on the bicycle when you mean to use the front.
Enjoy! And I highly recommend the online or in-person courses listed at cyclingsavvy.org. They cover the same kinds of topics about traffic safety as Motorcycle Safety Foundation courses. The two will reinforce each other..
@@cyclingsavvy2092 awesome, didn’t know I could switch them! I’ll check it out, thanks for the information!
Hello, I learned to ride a bike only two months ago 😊 and I am very happy even though I am 42 years old. I have watched many videos, this video gave me a lot of information. Thank you very much.
Good luck
I have watched loads of videos about learning to ride a bike great stuff could do with him living in England .I am just learning to ride my bike at 72years old still very nervous need to relax more.
Although I learned to ride as a kid & I don’t need to watch this video, I think it’s nice that both the teacher & student posted something so helpful for others, especially for adults. I took it for granted that people learned to ride as kids.
Good job to the both of you! It’s never too late to learn & there’s no one too old to teach. 😀
great teacher, am learning by watching your video, wish i was there learning with you
i am also feeling the same.
Very helpful l am going to learn how to ride a bicycle this summer 👍🏻
😊😊😊❤❤❤outstanding job and congratulations to you all that are learning to be successful bike riders everyone needs to learn this 😊😊😊 friends family's kid's wat to go keep them coming and stay safe out there happy-go-lucky biking amen keep on smiling 😊😊😊. Two thumps up.
I teach people to first get used to gliding without peddling, after a while most folks naturally start peddling
Así no se enseña.
1ro tiene que caminar para poder mantener el equilibrio haciendo los pasos más largos cada vez hasta que logre mantenerse bien, luego se empieza a utilizar los pedales.
Where is your location . I m 67 years old . Never ride a bike .
I might better ask where you live, to direct you to an instructor. John Ciccarelli's team is in the San Francisco area. There is also the bicycle riding school in Somerville, near Boston, Massachusetts. I shot the video and I am a bicycling instructor, but teaching people how to balance and steer is not my specialty. You could leave a message at sheldonbrown.com.
I live in Dearborn Heights Michigan. Thanks for answering my comment .
Nice ride 😜😜
Grate thecher ❤
how do we stop being wavy while riding?
It will come naturally with practice. The wobbly feeling is because you're not used to correcting your center of gravity to keep yourself directly over the bike yet. Just keep trying and you'll get it and it will become easy and natural and automatic. It's just like learning to walk: it's all about core corrections to keep yourself upright. It's all practice. Plus, the more confident you become, the faster you will pedal, and it's much easier to balance at speed.
@@chandrabutler2539 thanks a lot Chandra. I really appreciate the response. I also noticed I get a LiL more stable since then. I guess I’ll just keep the streak like you said. Thank you very much
Good tring
John, greetings - this vid is a better length - the others are so short as to be adverts to pull someone over to a website. Can you post your vids in full on youtube? I, like many others, use youtube as its own platform (a TV alternative that's free - leaving aside issue of google meta-spying) - not just as a feeder to another site.
You mean the other CyclingSavvy videos? Most of them are short because they are intended as embedded content in posts on CyclingSavvy.org. Indeed, if you come upon the video first, you need to go over to the site for the full message.
@@cyclingsavvy2092 Ah, thanks much for taking time to reply to me. Cheers, mate
It was lil helpful❤️
😊😊😊
u dont need to break
he mentions that theyre on a hill in this video (4:34), so teaching her to brake immediately is necessary actually lol. she's new to riding a bike so if he didnt teach her to brake at the top of the hill she could easily roll right down without knowing how to stop safely
It's a very slight downgrade, just enough to keep the bicycle moving. The site was selected for this.
lower the seat and just scoot along like kids training bikes, then start trying pedaling later, done.
