    Jimmy, you have become a realtor of miniature properties. So awesome. Thanks for the tips. Your buildings are very nice. I look forward to an ever expanding inventory. See ya.

    To avoid bleed under your masks hit the model with a clear gloss first, allow it to dry, then use your final colour.

  • @williambryant5946
    @williambryant5946 Před 4 lety +2

    When you mask something with tape that has already had an underlying color sprayed on it, spray the edges of the masking tape with the underlying color. This will seal the edge of the tape and prevent the next color from blending under the edge of the tape. I'd like to have a couple ho scale building #2. Fit perfect for a building I've been looking for.

      That's a great tip! I am trying to figure out the logistics of HO Scale buildings.

    When masking shoot a quick coat on the edge of the masking tape of the same color your trying to preserve. This will seal the edge and any leakage will be of the same color underneath. I use this method when painting a room in our house. Gives a very crisp ceiling to wall line. I use a brush there of course.

      I've painted my house many times over the years, and as perfect as I want those cuts, which you can get pretty good at doing, I would never want my HO scale buildings to look perfect.

    Very nice that you’re prime these for everyone as that’s normally the worst thing to do which is clean and prep. Can’t use any because I’m Ho but nice you are doing this for n- scale. You need to move onto industries. Okay adding cool on the HO building.

    I really like the buildings you've made. I am needing some more on the industry side. I do not see many kits if any for a scrap yard that would have a small office building with a truck scale in front. Just an idea. 😁

      @@DIYDigitalRailroad Can't wait Jimmy. I hope you do some "low relief buildings as the "flats" just don't look right to me. 1 inch to 11/2 inch wide would be great as they can be made to look like REAL buildings!

    Hi Jimmy I wanted to let you know that I am not getting emails informing me of anyone's videos. Don't know why and yes I have hit the bell for all. Besides that your buildings are fantastic. Also I quite using blue tape it always bleeds. Try frog tape I'm getting much better results

  • @chrisbell52310
    @chrisbell52310 Před 4 lety

    Would you consider N scale kits for factory sized buildings? Something on the order of "George Roberts Printing" kit say. For doing more of an "urban" type scene. I am thinking like the factory that sat by the tracks in Freeport IL or a tall warehouse like Des Moines IA.

  • @charlesmitchell487
    @charlesmitchell487 Před 3 lety

    Really great work at prices I can afford! All I could think of when I saw the bloopers and brain farts at the end was "Jimmy - remember that whole "make sure you're in a well ventilated area when you use spray paint" thing? Yeah, well... that. 😂
    A new subscribe with the "all new posts" bell. Are there any types of paints that shouldn't be used with resin? I just put down the $180 for the Digitrax Zephyr, have a decoder for my Kato E5 on the way and will be going to Home Despot tomorrow for some 12 gage copper for the main buss. Do you recommend stranded or solid core? I've watched a lot of videos a 11on CZcams about getting wired. I get the impression that some of these guys (commentators) are wrapped kinda tight regarding how they do things - especially when they differ from how you do things.
    Thanks

  • @Maurice00PA

    Very interesting buildings. Thanks for supporting N Scale. Can you tell me how easy this material is to cut through? I would like to build the row houses so that they are right up against each other like they share common walls. That is how row houses are normally built in my area. I figure if I can cut off the molding on the sides that face each other they should butt right against each other. Need to trim the bases as well. Hope you will consider some industries next.

      Thank you! I love N Scale (and all scales haha!). I will take one of my bad prints and do some cuts. I know it sands easily.

    • @Maurice00PA
      @Maurice00PA Před 4 lety

      @@DIYDigitalRailroad Sands very easily but I recommend wearing a mask when you do. Do you have a recommendation as to what glue to use with this material? I accidentally dropped on of your buildings and need to glue it back together.

  • @N2RI1
    @N2RI1 Před 3 lety

    dont use spray paint cans for N scale use airbrush and you dont own a "small" paint brush if you did you could hand paint it all faster with less mess & redos. those thick layers of spray can paint fill all details like Brick Mortar which I use lite washes to fill in for much more realistic finish

  • @wvn-scale5395
    @wvn-scale5395 Před 2 lety

    I love your printing, what printer did you use to print the building to get good brick detail and do you think i could get the same detail result on a Ender-3 V2 3D Printer

      @southaussielad2496 Před 2 lety

      To answer your question, it'll get really close. I've been printing houses for a 10mm wargame and it's surprising how nice detail we can get our of the ender 3 printers

  • @livinglifeontheedgechaos.1957

    Are you still printing these? If not do you have tbr stls for sale?

  • @Wittmason
    @Wittmason Před 3 lety

    A tip for your mortar washes. Use tempura paint. If you don’t like it wash it off but it will hold so much better than that chalk. Either that or use some alcohol and water and make a chalk wash.

    • @kevindunlap5525
      @kevindunlap5525 Před rokem

      You don't need to buy other paints, you can make washes out of acrylic, without alcohol, and when you are using chalks, you should finish with a flat clear sealer. The last thing you want is for your finished product to look like it came out of a box.

  • @N2RI1
