    I love my M6. Had it for almost eight years after selling all my digital gear. I got a story for you. When my M6 arrived, I looked at the serial number and right dead in the middle was the digits of my birthday. You know I'm never selling this.

    I like a lot this vintage corner, pictures taken with m6 are really stunning, got that old fashioned look no digital camera could reproduce either way.

    Excellent video on these two luxurious items. Very very interesting considering what has allready been said on these items with great summaries on upsides and downsides. Thank you for your work

    Great video! I love film cameras, and I myself have a number of them. I really enjoyed your review, it was a nice "flashback", pun intended! Haha

    In my film days, I used the Leica M6 35mm rangefinder for shooting street, reportage, landscapes, and travel. I used the following lenses:
    21mm f/1.4 Leitz
    35mm f/1.4 Zeiss
    90mm f/2 Leitz
    The main feature I liked about the M6 was the quiet operation due to no mirror slap.

    Thanks so much. I use the same duo (Summilux 46 filter, non ASPH, M6) and I agree totally with your comments.. My Nikon F2 is much heavier, dim viewfinder, etc. The M6 is the clear winner for me. Thanks again.

    Vintage corner! Super! Thank You for Your videos, great work!!!
    I used M6 with 50 and 35mm asph summicrons and I hated it! Never perfectly composed frame, never focused where I wanted to . In plus there is no exposure modes so negatives are evenly exposed once you get experianced.
    I ve been shooting with canon nikon minolta slrs ...and in my opinion there is nothing close to Contax RTS III with vacum backplate plus bright carl zeiss planars in terms of quality performance and funcionality.... and yes Carl Zeiss is very expensive too!!!

      Thanks for this. I’m thinking of adding a Contax slr to my Contax G2. Can’t decide between the RTSIII, Aria, RX etc..

    • @tubagigantus
      @tubagigantus Před 3 lety

      @@GaIvatr0n If you are going to use bright glass wide open (like 1.4 and also 1.8) RTS III gives you plain focal surface of your film and extremely sharp results...

    A fair review! One more advantage of the rangefinder: One can use an ND filter and still have full brightness of the viewfinder (same with B&W filters, like dark orange or red). There's a special polarizer from Leica, but it is a bit cumbersome (I use it on other old cameras too, like folding 6x6 and 6x9 cameras); a bit costly, though … ;-)

    By some miracles if I ever go into film, I will get an M6. Me and M6 were born on the same year.

    I love rangefinders. The ability to see outside frame is so great for street photography. But the framing on 90mm and 135mm is so painful. I almost never use longer than 50mm with Leica cameras.

    • @mattisulanto
      @mattisulanto  Před 4 lety

      I suppose Leicas, and rangefinders in general, were never really intended for much longer than 75mm.

    Got a Contax G2 to rival the quality. Would love an M6 for the manual aspect and German engineering but the price is too insane and it feels like a slippery slope into a gentleman’s club of no expense ever spared. Great review !

      @mattisulanto  Před 3 lety

      Thanks. I had both the G1 and G2 when they were new a few years back😀 The lenses were awesome and I got some great photos on them, but never really got used to the AF, which I never felt confident with. Beautiful cameras though.

    Being a fan of Cartier Bresson I always wanted a Leica M. Unfortunately I could never afford it.

    • @mattisulanto
      @mattisulanto  Před 4 lety +1

      An M is certainly desirable. You can get the M2 for almost reasonable money, though, and it's not far from the M6 what comes to shooting.

    Having owned a Trip of Leica, M6, M3 and M2 and a collection of Leica Apo, Asph, Vintage lenses for longer than I can remember, I have to say that those who are blindly lusting after these expensive luxuries are deluded to say the least. Neither the M6 in combination of any of the mentioned lenses will not make anyone a better photographer. Judge yourselves by the at best mediocre images posted on the Social Media. Neither do the Digital equivalent s of the classic Ms. It is the photographer that counts not the bloody equipment.once and for all. Sorry to be blunt.
