This is a great detailed review compared to others, thank you so much! Question if possible, the google maps, do you think it is still possible to use while walking? Does the little dot move if you move? Also the battery being bad, does that mean if I wanted to listen to music would it die with an hours use?
First yea there is a dot that moves with. you and you can use it while walking it just won't speak to you. Also though the battery is kinda bad I overexaggerated how bad it is, it really can last almost a day even if you listen to music
The battery thing is rather disappointing. You'd expect more from a phone like this, like 3 days of battery life or whatever. Good thing about the battery is that it is removable, which is not an option in modern smartphones. My dad has this Nokia, so I held it in my hands a couple of times - feels very firm, nice, and solid. I like this phone, but I hope Nokia will make a newer, better version of it in the future. The future of classic flip phones could be bright, but they have to improve the performance. For now I'm sticking to my smartphone, but maybe I'll give a flip phone a try in the future.
To be fair though, although the battery life is bad, it probably isn't as bad as I said. After using it a little more I'd say you can get a solid 4 hours out of it. Still, though for what it is, that seems very subpar
its 1500 mah in a chipset slightly weaker than my 2012 smartphone with 2000mah , also it has only 3.7v and it makes it last less and wear fast like iphone batteries
Great video. Oh how I wish there was a way to put WhatsApp calling on this phone. They released this phone again in the US as the Nokia 2720 V Flip with Verizon and that has WhatsApp calling. I wish they could put it on the 2019 version too since they are nearly identical
I've been using a flip phone for about a year now and I dig it. I still keep my galaxy nearby (wifi only) but it's clunky and mostly only use it in bed or at cafe's. The flip fits in the pocket really comfortably so it's really great when you're on the go. it's also fine for CZcams when paired with a small bluetooth speaker. Pretty sure it's pinned at like 360p so it barely uses data. 1 gig can easily last a month even if you use youtube for a 1/2 hour a day which is great.
I can confirm that. On my smartphone i need 10gbs every week but on my kaios device 5gbs are more than enough for everyday youtube, online radio and whatsapp for the whole month!!!
As I am using the phone more, I am realizing more drawbacks. One of the bigger ones is the fact that it is practically impossible to receive photos through text. They take forever to download and you have to download them before a certain date. You can for some reason get pictures through WhatsApp more easily. Another annoying thing is using email, let's just say that it takes a long time to find an email. Also, you can't multitask and see texts at the same time as you're talking to someone. If you try to exit out of the phone call to look at something else, it hangs up. Also group texts show up as separate messages meaning each person in the group is a separate conversation, you can't talk in the group chat.
One of the really annoying things with these new flip phones is that they are so lacking in small specific things that are deal breakers for me. I wish we could get some proper, nice, modern flip phones like have been sold in Japan and China and whatnot up until a couple years ago, and not only bottom-of-the-barrel devices that are available in the US. Can't group text, poor battery life, poor support for US cellular bands, etc, etc

But great review mate, it was well done, thank you for the help with my decision making on which classic phone to buy from Nokia as an alternative to the smartphone.
I'm not sure about the US, but in NZ this is a 4G phone. You can use it as a hotspot. I think most KaiOS phones are 4G, makes Google services etc. usable. Great review, thanks!
The camera on feature phones is the thing that bugs me the most I gotta take pictures at work quite often, so a camera that's at least 5mp or something like that would be much better. Also a feature phone that has a variation of Android itself would be cool. Social media detox is still my reason to get a feature phone, but there are apps that I wanna be able to use anyways, like internet radio, a news app, Shazam Google mail.....
If you need camera for work, you need 100% smartphone. When i was working in the Hotels i was a manager, i had to have Smartphone exactly for this purposes. But i also had a gsm, which is not smart, just for talking. Because i had more then 150 calls per day at minimum, so i need a separate phone only to talk and another one - just for camera+sending files :P
You can see a little bluetooth icon on the right top corner. Pretty sure it has bluetooth connection! Mine will arrive tomorrow, so i might update this comment.
@@dahianazandbergen3215 Thank you very much, this is the feature I was also looking for, and my cell phone is also coming tomorrow, what a coincidence ...
Thanks for this in-depth honest review! I'm looking for a phone for my granny, and I'm kinda liking this for myself too lol. Going back to Whatsapp, can't the 'Voice' menu at the center start a phone call? I don't use whatsapp and I'm not sure of their menu terms though
So overall would you recommend this phone for detox , I am just worried about what you said, spending more time on pc instead etc ? Also how is music on it , also does it have hotspot ?
Music is not the best. You can download songs on it like an old-school iPod or listen to music through some apps, I find the radio apps such as world radio to be the most lag-free and seamless. You're not going to have anything like Spotify or Apple music. As for the detox aspect. I do recommend it. Yes, I spend more time on my computer, but then again I am home all day long because of covid. But I can say when I am out I never NEVER go on my phone, I use it only for texting and calling. So to answer your question yes, a great detox phone despite its flaws.
@@burnieclimber perfect, thanks for answer. If it's okay one last ques, Can play music and control music via tactile or volume buttons when closed ? Like pause Play fwd rewind with flip closed ?
I just bought this yesterday - and it has lots of things my old flip did not have. However, all that this phone *does* have comes with NO instructions! Can I use headset so I can be hands-free? How do I take a pic and then download it to my computer? How long does the battery take to fully charge? What is the separate little micro USB used for and where? I'm a novice and never had a smartphone and my old cell still works but Verizon has stopped supporting it and it might die in 2023. I don't need to text - I need a phone to call if I'm lost - or in an emergency. It would be nice to find a restaurant ... but that's what I do before leaving home. I have 700 minutes on the old Samsung - and barely use 50 minutes. Thank you for the info you did show me.
Thanks for review. Coming from the perspective of one who's never used a smart phone, is 74, doesn't want a smt. phone and won't use its features, incl. apps (use a laptop for that), lives in a rural area of the mtn west, have to replace my flip because of non support for 3g. What would be a good simple 4g flip phone for 1. ease of texting 2. slightly larger screen size, 3. a little better camera? Current phone I'm replacing is an LG Exalt (similar size and format to an LG Classic) Thanks to any and all.
I wish I knew because I'm in a similar circumstances. I had a smartphone and I just don't like them and for the most part I don't even need a cell phone but for when I do I want to be able to text easily and take a halfway decent photo.
The only drawback for me would be google maps, I get so lost easily.. Not sure if I can do without. Thanks for mentioning this, because I haven't seen it in any other video.
Verizon sells this phone, and I've read that some customers cannot unlock it for the Verizon network. I don't know if it's all clients, though. I'm looking for a rebound phone that isn't an Apple. I'm also looking for a detox, too. (Great turn of phrase.) How easy is it to remove the battery? Thanks for posting.
Hi, i know this is an older video but i have a couple of questions if your available to answer and remember about this phone lol. Can you set the text size bigger? Also if you use Google assistant to send a text message and you get a text back will it read text back in voice? Thanks 😀
I wonder how many people using this phone were around in the mid 90s to know how to type the old way, I used to be super quick. Not sure about now though, will have to see
I want a Samsung G9198 ,. Best looking coolest flip phone I've ever seen. .... But I just found out they never released it in the US only in a few other countries.
I have a question for owners of Nokia 2720 Flip phone. Im curious how strong is the "flip" on this phone... What I mean is when its closed and if I put the phone upside down (or in various other angles) will it open automatically or is the mechanism strong enough to keep the phone closed and only manual finger opening will open it?
i was waiting for this to come to the US and immediately got one - it's not bad, but the battery life isn't great, and it has trouble with group-texts (MMS) - it's doable but requires that you add a subject, which i always forget to do and end up with 25 separate text threads to my scout troop.
there is just the stock email app which is subpar but still usable. let's just say if you are used to the Gmail app on your smartphone the email app on this nokia phone will pale in comparison.
Hello from the future. I don't use smartphones and I've watched several vids about this phone, but after this one I knew I had to have it. Nice to see a relaxed and detailed vid almost the way I'd do it when getting a new phone. I always get disappointed with the texting, which is all I really need (I'm also on my PC all the time), so getting a good feeling of it was important. Thank you!
@@burnieclimber It sure is. But will not work with 4G LTE in USA. If you have AT&T and are in USA, you might be getting 3G (H+) only. Is that correct ?
Can you use CZcams to MP3 to change your ringtone, or does that only work on mobiles? And can you download Spotify on it? If WhatsApp is available on it, then surely Spotify's able to be downloaded, right?
It was an interesting video that allows you to see that they have improved by making the keys much larger compared to other models they have. By the way, at one point you said that there is no voice command for text except in WhatsApp where you can send only audio files. Well, no, that's not true, but a lot of people don't know that and it's a shame because typing on that kind of old-fashioned keyboard is not very pleasant. it's very simple, when you're in the frame to type your text in any application you press the central button for two seconds and you release and it launches the Google assistant which takes care of the voice command. And it works in any application where you can type text. I have a thought for all those who didn't know it before and who typed their messages by hand on this kind of phone 😂 I have the Nokia Banana phone where the keys are even smaller than on the 2720 you can imagine if I had to type text by hand regularly with this 🤣
If in the middle of typing a text message will you have to start over if you received a phone call or will the text message still be there to finish when done with phone call
I [happily] use a feature 'phone, but when I go out I'm surrounded by people absorbed in smrtfones; I sit in the Pub & everyone else is staring down at 'phones, inc my kids. I'm trying to remember what Pubs were like in late '80s/90s when I was growing up; I think people talked to each other? If I was alone or waiting, I read 'Sounds' or played Pinball - I don't want strangers hassling me, or chatting me up - Lol, probably safe from that these days - but it is 𝗦𝗢 weird how no-one else is really *there?!* They 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 like they're there, but it's a room of ghosts..
nice phone. i like nokia. but blue tooth and wifi are radio frequencies all over us every day just like cell phone signals theres no escape from the waves all around us lol but its vary low not strong enough to be radioactive or anything

ive had the phone for 1 year and some things i want to point out pros: NO ADS!- every website ive gone to absolutely no ads,no ads on instagram,no ads on facebook,no hot local milfs near you, nothing, not even on youtube instagram- works in browser(no offical app on kai os yet),u can do everything there, even post storys and dm people, emojis are also visible ,but for some reason cant see videos on explore anymore whatsapp- works but cant make calls facebook-works havent tried calling on there and bunch of stuff, can scroll the feed and comment etc. youtube-works can watch videos and comments webbrowser and other websites-most of them work except soundcloud wich at first was workin but now it doesnt,it seems like it makes alot of phones crash that dont have the correct app when u try to go there from browser(had same issue with older smartphones) durability- u said its gets scratched easily wich is true but the phone sure can take good fall damage without braking or cracking or damaging phone ,wich happened to most of my smartphones in less in 1 year of use camera-by smartphone standards its garbage but by flip phone standards its the peak evolution of pixels size/weight-its alot smaller and lighter than all the smartphones, alot more comfortable to carry in pocket and hold in hand compared to smartphones with large screens battery life-better than smartphones, but if u watch videos on youtube on its pretty much same battery life as smartphones dual sim and a micro sd -u can have 2 simcards active at same time, can use 2 telephone numbers wich is very useful for me for many reasons wifi hotspot-probably my favourite thing about it,drains battery depending what u doing on the net,i use it everyday to make internet for my pc with it and its quite fast emojis-yes they are on a flipphone now lol,and quite alot of them price-i got it for 100 bucks so its probly the best flipphone for that price considering how many features it has cons: quite few apps ,specialy the common ones, worst one for me is that i cant use soundcloud, not even in browser youtube-you cant close ur phone if u want the song to remain playing, maybe u can if u have youtube premium,i dont so not sure batterylife-would expect to be better for flipphone but i guess its still a smartphone y it has the same battery life updates-when i first got it,it was updating like every few days like most smartphones, but now i havent got any updates for like a year lol idk why messaging-takes long to type a simple sentence without using the predictive texting, not a phone for some1 who chats on it for 2 hours in a day or has long conversations every day web images/videos-as he mentioned for most people it seems crappy that the screen videos and images inst that big ,really its only cause ppl are so used to huge screens, its pretty decent compared to flipphones we had in 2006 etc google maps-i havent personally test it myself if it doesnt say directions,i tought it would since u can see ur blue dot moving and present,u can zoom out and see the whole route atleast tho,so it isnt completly useless hope this one helps some1 deciding getting 1 lol,im quite happy with it and dont plan on going back to normal smartphones anytime soon
As for slow texting, one way to walk around this would be to connect a wireless keypad to this phone (through the Bluetooth technology). I still have my old wireless keypad from PS3, and I use it on my ps4, on my smartphone and pretty much everything. If I ever buy a feature phone, I will make sure it has Bluetooth technology, so I can connect my wireless ps3 keypad and write fast
The biggest selling point for me, is the lack of social media apps and the liberation of not being so instantly connected to the world. I figured, why be suckered for $176 a month, for a smartphone, that literally no one contacts me on, with the exception of my girlfriend and mother. And that’s not an exaggeration, unless you include spam callers and notifications for bills. Mine will be shipped in 2 days. Can’t wait to take a nostalgic trip back to the 90s and free myself of unnecessary stress. Goodbye iPhone and hello freedom. It’s all a psychological trap people. Let go and live life. P.S. - I have a laptop in the event that I need to get on third party apps such as banking apps or google. Other than that, it’s no longer an appendage that I feel scared to lose.
I might get this. I’m tired of advanced technology all together. I go outside and look at the artificiality of the world and how far we regressed.
IKR a simple phone has been pretty good, I only use it for texts and calls

I'm not sure about the US, but in NZ this is a 4G phone. You can use it as a hotspot. I think most KaiOS phones are 4G, makes Google services etc. usable. Great review, thanks!
Hi, can you please tell me what those marks are above keys 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 on the keypad ?
They are some sort of symbol, but they mean nothing to me.

The camera on feature phones is the thing that bugs me the most
I gotta take pictures at work quite often, so a camera that's at least 5mp or something like that would be much better. Also a feature phone that has a variation of Android itself would be cool. Social media detox is still my reason to get a feature phone, but there are apps that I wanna be able to use anyways, like internet radio, a news app, Shazam Google mail.....
yea I feel you
I wouldn't use the smartphones if the usual ones had better cameras..but You can buy a small one, seperate hah.
Thank you for a very detailed and genuine review.
the only feature that I wanted to know is if this phone have a bluetooth connection,so you make my day, thank's a lot!!!
@@dahianazandbergen3215 We are a kind of Siamese twins

Thanks for this in-depth honest review! I'm looking for a phone for my granny, and I'm kinda liking this for myself too lol. Going back to Whatsapp, can't the 'Voice' menu at the center start a phone call? I don't use whatsapp and I'm not sure of their menu terms though
No, phone calls don't work in whatsapp on this phone sadly
Great video thank you 😊
Great! My Nokia 6300 4g is arriving tomorrow and I’m so excited to switch from the iPhone 11
awesome hope it goes well for you!!
Thanks a lot for the review
The shortcut button u assigned for messages can be used as a recent apps button. I've seen another video doing it.
Oh cool
Great review.
I really like your voice and the review:) You seem like a real empath.
I bought the Nokia 6300 4g today, thinking about keeping it:)
Thanks!! That means a lot
Is it a 4G or 3G?
@@bluesavingdeals9650 4g :)
Brilliant review. One question can we uninstall the preloaded apps? Like I don't want whatsapp/Facebook etc
you can uninstall fb and WhatsApp
Yt Bananahackers
does it have call recorder? or it's possible to install it?
cool review
i dont think so
The only drawback for me would be google maps, I get so lost easily.. Not sure if I can do without. Thanks for mentioning this, because I haven't seen it in any other video.
Same, That's why I got a Garmin GPS system for my car also
Verizon sells this phone, and I've read that some customers cannot unlock it for the Verizon network. I don't know if it's all clients, though. I'm looking for a rebound phone that isn't an Apple. I'm also looking for a detox, too. (Great turn of phrase.) How easy is it to remove the battery? Thanks for posting.
it's pretty easy
Hi, i know this is an older video but i have a couple of questions if your available to answer and remember about this phone lol. Can you set the text size bigger? Also if you use Google assistant to send a text message and you get a text back will it read text back in voice? Thanks 😀
Hey sorry for the late reply. I am pretty sure you can make the text bigger. As for reading the text back, I don't think google assistant does that.
I wonder how many people using this phone were around in the mid 90s to know how to type the old way, I used to be super quick. Not sure about now though, will have to see
Your words were carefully chosen, you were politely presenting the points I loved to have heard about the phone...great review !
I want a Samsung G9198 ,. Best looking coolest flip phone I've ever seen. .... But I just found out they never released it in the US only in a few other countries.
Can i install the autheticator app on this phone? I want to get a less smarter smart phone, but need this application for work
great review
I have a question for owners of Nokia 2720 Flip phone.
Im curious how strong is the "flip" on this phone... What I mean is when its closed and if I put the phone upside down (or in various other angles) will it open automatically or is the mechanism strong enough to keep the phone closed and only manual finger opening will open it?
No it's fairly strong
i was waiting for this to come to the US and immediately got one - it's not bad, but the battery life isn't great, and it has trouble with group-texts (MMS) - it's doable but requires that you add a subject, which i always forget to do and end up with 25 separate text threads to my scout troop.
How long does the battery last
Excuse my ignorance but can you connect this phone to the Bluetooth in your car ? Also…does it receive e mails ?
Great review…thanks 👍🇬🇧
i don't think you can and the email app SUCKS, also yw :)
Hi, can you please tell me what those marks are above keys 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 on the keypad ?
They are some sort of symbol, but they mean nothing to me.
Hi, what apps are available for emailing? Is there anything like Gmail or Outlook?
there is just the stock email app which is subpar but still usable. let's just say if you are used to the Gmail app on your smartphone the email app on this nokia phone will pale in comparison.
Thank you!
Nice review thank you. AT&T?? Surely you are not getting 4G LTE, is that correct ?
Actually it is a 4g phone
@@burnieclimber It sure is.
But will not work with 4G LTE in USA. If you have AT&T and are in USA, you might be getting 3G (H+) only. Is that correct ?
Can you use CZcams to MP3 to change your ringtone, or does that only work on mobiles?
And can you download Spotify on it? If WhatsApp is available on it, then surely Spotify's able to be downloaded, right?
I honestly don’t need this but I want to get one of these
You DO need this!
I have a thought for all those who didn't know it before and who typed their messages by hand on this kind of phone 😂
I have the Nokia Banana phone where the keys are even smaller than on the 2720 you can imagine if I had to type text by hand regularly with this 🤣
yes that is true
Patrick Jane has influenced my decision to get this phone. Will use this for my work.
Cool
Does it work In the car to listen to CZcams playlists?
Is there a button to light up the secondary screen, for example to see the clock at night?
I think if you press a button it lights up
Are you able to get apps like Spotify or Soundcloud on this phone
Can you please let me know if we can create separate caller groups to set separate ringtones for callers?
I am not sure actually
Thank you love
If in the middle of typing a text message will you have to start over if you received a phone call or will the text message still be there to finish when done with phone call
I think it actuallly saves it which the little bit of RAM that the phone has, but I am not certain
Great review! Intro nice pics and music but too long. Took 45 seconds to get to the video. Nice details in the reviews and very thorough
If I was alone or waiting, I read 'Sounds' or played Pinball - I don't want strangers hassling me, or chatting me up - Lol, probably safe from that these days - but it is 𝗦𝗢 weird how no-one else is really *there?!* They 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 like they're there, but it's a room of ghosts..
silly question, does it have Spotify? literally the only reason I don't dump my smartphone right now ..
I was also going to ask this, spotify is quite important imo
Hello! Does Spotify work well on that phone?
Aahhh now I kinda want to use flip phone too 😢
yea join the club
Can you open it with one hand ?
If we open with more force, will the hinge get some trouble ?
It is not too hard to open with one hand, and the hinge....you probably don't wanna put too much force on it
@@burnieclimber Obviously you can open the phone with one hand, like me for example, and it will not cause any problem at all, trust me ...
Can you get a higher capacity battery ?
nice phone. i like nokia. but blue tooth and wifi are radio frequencies all over us every day just like cell phone signals theres no escape from the waves all around us lol but its vary low not strong enough to be radioactive or anything
Bernie Burnie, is it so hard for you to teach me the first steps of the revolving menu ???
Is there a better battery you can buy to replace the battery already inside this Nokia phone?
sadly no
Hiii what a good review! I have a question, what about whatsapp group chats? Does that work well? For example if my friends send photos in the group chat, can i see it?
Thanks! Group chats do work if they are in whatsapp
It is very slow though to send photos
@@burnieclimber thank you for the reply, I bought it two weeks ago. I really like that its a flip phone. People are VERY intrigued by it. Its a real conversation starter lol
@@yaeltuttebel YES tbh that's part of the reason I got it too because it feels cool to have something basically no one has anymore
@@burnieclimber yes haha!!
can you uninstall apps like facebook or google or youtube..? thank you for answer..
Hi can you play CZcams and it will still play music with the flip closed ?
With google account is possible to add my contacts that I have on smartphone to 2720 automatically?
Great nice and slow review, really shows the phone. Just wondering about the whatsapp function, does it work well? How about group chats and video calls? Anyone any idea?
No video calls....and you can do group chats in whatsapp
What OPTIONS are available while on a phone call? Can you check text messages? Can you record?
none. you can't do anything while on a call
The only thing I will complain about this phone is the battery life. Come on Nokia, I liked this phone, but why the damn battery that bad? I would buy the phone...
hi can you please check that if there is a Auto Answer mode while connected with bluetooth earbud? many thanks
Does it have spotify, or atleast can dwnload it?
ive had the phone for 1 year and some things i want to point out
pros:
NO ADS!- every website ive gone to absolutely no ads,no ads on instagram,no ads on facebook,no hot local milfs near you, nothing, not even on youtube
instagram- works in browser(no offical app on kai os yet),u can do everything there, even post storys and dm people, emojis are also visible
,but for some reason cant see videos on explore anymore
whatsapp- works but cant make calls
facebook-works havent tried calling on there and bunch of stuff, can scroll the feed and comment etc.
youtube-works can watch videos and comments
webbrowser and other websites-most of them work except soundcloud wich at first was workin but now it doesnt,it seems like it makes alot of phones crash that dont have the correct app when u try to go there from browser(had same issue with older smartphones)
durability- u said its gets scratched easily wich is true but the phone sure can take good fall damage without braking or cracking or damaging phone ,wich happened to most of my smartphones in less in 1 year of use
camera-by smartphone standards its garbage but by flip phone standards its the peak evolution of pixels
size/weight-its alot smaller and lighter than all the smartphones, alot more comfortable to carry in pocket and hold in hand compared to smartphones with large screens
battery life-better than smartphones, but if u watch videos on youtube on its pretty much same battery life as smartphones
dual sim and a micro sd -u can have 2 simcards active at same time, can use 2 telephone numbers wich is very useful for me for many reasons
wifi hotspot-probably my favourite thing about it,drains battery depending what u doing on the net,i use it everyday to make internet for my pc with it and its quite fast
emojis-yes they are on a flipphone now lol,and quite alot of them
price-i got it for 100 bucks so its probly the best flipphone for that price considering how many features it has
cons:
quite few apps ,specialy the common ones, worst one for me is that i cant use soundcloud, not even in browser
youtube-you cant close ur phone if u want the song to remain playing, maybe u can if u have youtube premium,i dont so not sure
batterylife-would expect to be better for flipphone but i guess its still a smartphone y it has the same battery life
updates-when i first got it,it was updating like every few days like most smartphones, but now i havent got any updates for like a year lol idk why
messaging-takes long to type a simple sentence without using the predictive texting, not a phone for some1 who chats on it for 2 hours in a day or has long conversations every day
web images/videos-as he mentioned for most people it seems crappy that the screen videos and images inst that big ,really its only cause ppl are so used to huge screens, its pretty decent compared to flipphones we had in 2006 etc
google maps-i havent personally test it myself if it doesnt say directions,i tought it would since u can see ur blue dot moving and present,u can zoom out and see the whole route atleast tho,so it isnt completly useless
hope this one helps some1 deciding getting 1 lol,im quite happy with it and dont plan on going back to normal smartphones anytime soon
Hey haha, thanks for all that you coulda make this video instead of me
The biggest selling point for me, is the lack of social media apps and the liberation of not being so instantly connected to the world.
Same bruh
