  • I am not going to DIE in this PULPIT.
In a video, Rev. Dr. Howard-John Wesley, the senior pastor at a prominent megachurch in the US, stunned his congregation with an unexpected announcement. He bravely confessed that he was stepping away from his ministry for a season. His reason? He felt distant from God, weary in his soul, and in need of mental and physical recuperation.
In his address to the congregation, Rev. Wesley spoke openly about his struggles, saying, "I am tired in my soul."
It was a profound moment that challenged the notion of the infallibility of spiritual leaders and reminded us all of our shared humanity. Witnessing such raw honesty and vulnerability was both humbling and inspiring.
Watch out, I know it will bless your Spirit.

Rev. Howard J. Wesley is one of the most anointed, dynamic, real, uniquely transparent, and genuine Pastors I've had the pleasure of studying under thru the blessing of social media. This particular experiential sermon occurred about 4 1/2 years ago! This solidified, validated, and confirmed a similar feeling I was actually wrestling with at the same time, having at that time over 20 years of Ordained Ministry under my belt & knowing others who SHOULD HAVE Been wrestling in the same way! Been rockin' with him ever since! His anointed Ministry is a true Gift from God!❤

Rev Dr Howard-John Wesley is a profound pastor, preacher, leader, and teacher‼️ I sincerely trust that if he states that he needs a “sabbatical” from the pulpit, he has deeply prayed over this matter, and GOD has given him HIS APPROVAL for some rest and quiet time as he journeys through this life. It is even stated in the Bible that while JESUS was on earth that JESUS also grew tired and weary in HIS journey among the people. May GOD give Rev Wesley a deserved rest and peace as he determines the next phase of his life‼️🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Pastor, I'm so glad that you're taking a break. There's nothing wrong with you taking a sabbatical. I, too, am in ministry. Please don't think that I'm criticizing you. Just want to help. Read Exodus 18:21. You have pushed yourself to the extreme. Is God leading you to go to school for degree after degree? You have 10,000 members w/4 services. That's a lot. How effective can u be when you're tired or hear the voice of God. Are the ppl receiving in such a short period? You must delegate. God is speaking. Is God leading u to do all these things? There's nothing wrong with education. How much time are u spending with your wife over the years and children? Yes, God is first. Your family is next, then the church family. It seems as if YOU are pushing for being over the top for achievements and have remained on auto for years doing things on your own. Now you've reached burnout mode. Those things are important but not for everyone. Maybe if you were younger and not married. UR have stretched yourself to thin and for what, a piece of paper? Your members love you. Please don't be upset, but it seems that u r an overachiever. Ask Hod to search your heart and spirit for directions while ur out. U R a powerful preacher! Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you. I am not telling u what to do. Ask God, preach one service and someone else do the next three. Teach one Bible study a month during the summer. Delegate someone for other nights/services. This will give u a break. If attendance, money falls off, that's not your problem. Just keep preaching and teaching the Word!! His Word will draw or drive. Our duty is to preach Jesus only. Let officers be concerned about $, u can only help so many ppl or organizations. 200 organizations is a lot. Most ppl right there in your congregation can use more assistance. I will pray for you, although Idk you. As ppl of Christ, we're to lift each other up, not hurt. I pray that Jesus will return u stronger and wiser. Please forgive me if this is offensive. This isn't my plan. God bless you and His ppl.

Absolutely no comparison to working a 9-5 versus pastoring 24/8. You people who think this way is so brainwashed to think anyone who needs a mental break or break period is weak and it’s really the strongest who can identify when they can’t take it anymore. Pastors are….shocker coming, human 😮 who also get “tired”. Only in America do we praise struggling even when it’s unnecessary and claiming that it builds character but it only rears what we see today where more people are angry, short tempered. On top of that dying young from stress from being “tired”. And actually most people can in fact take time off from work, it’s called a “ leave of absence “. SMH 🤦🏽‍♀️

It was a deal-breaker. You cannot serve two masters. Many former Greeks understood this and renounced. I pray that during a time of reflection, he comes to realize this and repent. He seems like a sincere servant of God and it's never too late to come into full alignment with Him.
