Nate: It's really easy, if it has fins it's a bomb, if not, it's a drop tank for extended range.
And the Corsair was a fighter, not a torpedo bomber. 😉

That first take off with the Corsair into the setting sun, with a return, billowing clouds in the background, where crepuscular rays fanned the sky was beautiful.

That’s one tough bird! Corsairs being my all time favorite airplane, a few notes. They all need nose weight. Notice how it flew pretty good when the battery was crammed forward. With a 4 blade prop you have more “P” factor which is the torque effect from the direction of rotation of the motor/engine to the aircraft and the reason you need rudder input on the take off roll. Plus it’s a big ass taildragger, so it wants to ground loop. Dance on them rudder pedals 😂 or in this case stick. Corsairs will most certainly pull off inverted flight as well as aerobatic maneuvers. They were designed to dogfight Japanese Zeros. It takes a little bit of practice though. These inverted gull wing planes with forward vertical stabs fly like the real thing. They will stall and spin on you in a heartbeat. You can’t ever stop flying the plane. If it does stall and drop a wing, remember your rudder is the way out NOT your ailerons. Opposite rudder and down elevator until it begins flying again then you can pull up. Same as the real thing. Nice job overall guys!!!

Tall grass is your friend...absorbs impact even if it impales your flaps. Abby's loosening of the landing gear exercises saved it from snapping off. Excellent scale flight Nate.

You lucked out! I really enjoy your videos. I remember when I was a kid...about 10 years old. My parents bought me a Cox .049 control line Corsair. Not long after Christmas, my Dad and Grandpa took me to the local school parking lot to fly it. I wanted my Dad to fly it first...Things didn't end well. He got around 1 complete revolution, then did a wingover after Dad got dizzy, and it slammed into the pavement at full speed. There wasn't much left of it after that. :-(

As a "Scale" guy I love when you all do warbirds. Still amazed that crash didn't cause more "issues". Even the "change" in CG due to the battery slide didn't seem to be a negative (but maybe that's because of pure pilot skill). The "Big Guy" was certainly looking after you today. Yes Abby, tornado's can do crazy things...I've seen lots of photos of blades of grass embedded in or "through" actual wood boards.

I used to fly the "Royal" Corsair.Big wooden model with a 60 size gas engine, Mine was an F4U-1 and yours is an F4U-4. Great flying and the thing of it is that these models fly like the "real" thing, so there are some things that these can and will not do.

Something I think you should remember is that with safe on or not in order to get the plane to trim you can not do any inputs for at least 3 seconds after the trim commands. The trims will not take affect if you do anything with the sticks . I've always got the plane high enough to not worrie and do my trim and count one thousand, two thousand and 3 thousand before touching the sticks. You will notice then that the trims will take hold immediately. But if you touch the sticks before the 3 seconds you do nothing when you trim. Thats the way it is with all spectrum recivers.

I have both the Eflite P51D 1.5 and the corsair and its their wing loading. If doing that lazy slow barrell roll which is very cool to do, you need to carry speed with it. You hit the nail on the head by saying you are used to the cubs and high wing planes those have alot more wing loading. War birds especially the P51 have alot of torque or P-factor and you adjusted for that quickly on the Corsair. And yes its a tough little bird I have had more than a few hard landings on the gear and it has stood up. I fly off of grass and it not always very manicured. BTW love you guys. Both of you are a great team.

Smaller is always harder to fly but cheap is the payoff I’m a p51 guy😊

That’s actually pretty impressive considering my UMX A-10 split in half on a nice soft Landing. Hot glued it back together and then did almost the exact same thing you just did, but canopy down. Split fuselage in half yet again in a different place. Another 20 minutes some hot glue had it right back in the air.

When the wheels worked, my jaw dropped with you, lmao. So cool. Note to self, fly by tall grass just in case... Indubitably a tough plane 😎

Wow how lucky! I saw a balsa model go in nose first like that once. Some interference caused it to nose dive at full power. It was on the old 72 mhz system.
    It was a total loss.
