Ddp does the right kind of trash talk. It's not overly stupid and offensive, he knows exactly what to say to get the fight. Subtly revealing himself as a champ on the mic and in the cage.

@@srr3097 the hard illegal headbutt that had both their heads smash the fence. It caused blood on Strickland that judges counted as damage. Watch gurus breakdown at 3min 34secs it's in slow motion so it doesn't look bad, even the stop frame you can't really tell. When you see it full speed you can tell it was a really hard headbutt and the blood right after how it smeared kinda proves it. I don't think it was intentional but it was a fluke and without it, Strickland wouldn't have had much of a mark on him plus it could have been a no contest and he remained the belt, or the points not scored. You can call it cope or what not but it was a fluke.
I feel somewhat conflicted.

I had DDP in all of his fights coming into the UFC. After both of the Soldič fights in KSW I knew he was going to be a fucking problem. The team he has game plans well and his output is one of the highest out there which just crumbles people.

People like to underestimate South Africans, but fighting is in our blood, it’s a hard country to grow up in and it makes for extremely tough and tenacious fighters. Behind the tough exterior you will find the friendliest and most sincere and caring personalities though, if people just give Dricus the chance I guarantee he will climb into their hearts and be everyone’s champion.

I knew DDP was something special back when he was finishing everyone in his debut fights. Only ever went to decision against Tavares and Strickland. I'm very happy with pur current champ.
A lot of the more recent US fans haven't gone back and watched his fights to understand why we had faith in him here at home. His fights in EFC and his Jiu Jitsu matchups at Submission Kings. We've beeeeeeeen watching him.

Only people who didn't take the time to look into DDP's history pre-UFC were surprised by the outcome. If anything I was expecting more from the new champ, but I look forward to seeing how he learns from this and hopefully tightens up his game a bit. DDP with more precision could reign for a long time.

I think DDP's main advantage is his strength, he makes up for his lack-luster striking with an awkward style. He's a really unique MMA fighter in my opinion, especially an interesting champ.

I think anyone with a brain knew this was a tough match up for Sean. Strong grappler with a diverse stand up game. I think fans are more impressed with Strickland lasting 5 rounds and making it a competitive bout.
