Shame she hasn't made an appearance since. Even if she does overact. This level probably has the most memorable atmosphere, one a lot like Shadowman. As for the boss fight... granted it's based mostly on timing and quick time, but the music makes it worthwhile.
The Mz Ruby level gave me the creeps as a kid it sent chills down my spine and when I was a kid that big swamp sea serpent thing made my heart race it was so scary having a big giant swamp eel trying to eat you.
Trunks Future Prince of Hype I Also got scared from those weird things where it took 3 hits to kill like first you knock there legs off then there arms and then it's head but it startled me when you get close to it and when it wakes up charging at you.
Mz Ruby’s level also scared me as a kid but now it is my overall favorite level of the game, the atmosphere of the level is great and the music is great though this game’s music is awesome overall in my opinion
This is one of my favorite bosses because it is just so much fun! The music is just so much fun to play to as you avoid her voodoo spells and and I find myself taken back every time I revisit this game. Thanks for bringing back my memories of one of the very first games I ever played! :D
The reason I love the Mz Ruby and Panda King fights wasn't because they were awesome (and believe me, they were), it was because of the way they danced while they talked. It's just so funny.
@@JeffreyBarkdull Louisiana also has ties to voodoo aswell. Plus I imagine it’s easier to disappear in Haiti then Louisiana. We also don’t know where Ruby was born. She’s just hiding in Haiti
She's not originally from Haiti necessarily, it just says that thats where she has set up her current operation. Given her accent and the blonde haired blue eyed girls she was with as a kid she probably was in fact raised in Louisiana.
this boss fight was a big milestone for me and my love for gaming, i learned how to memorize the buttons on my controller ( this was when i was a kid ) now i'm doing FPS tournaments. THANKS RUBY! :D
Probably depends how involved they were, sly seems to have a particular hatred for Panda king and Clockwerk, so I always assumed they were the ones that actually killed him directly
Hmm...this whole level reminds me of parappa the rapper....from the button pressing to your character repeating the same noises the teacher is making....
This brings back some amazing memories for me. My mom loved this level and it brings me some of my happiest memories playing the sly cooper series with her. I love you mom
I know some people were scared or got chills from Clockwerk. But for me personally I found that Mz Ruby and the Contessa scared and creeped me out. I hated playing their levels because it was difficult for one thing, but scary and creepy for another.
If they make a Sly 4 in the future, they should bring Mz Ruby back, like she breaks out of jail or something, lol.The boss fight for her should rhythm based like this, but A LOT faster, and more difficult. =)
Last bit of this fight I think my child hood was screaming at me. Ah memories. Took me a long time to beat this boss as a kid but it's my favorite fight still.
When I was 5 I got stuck on this boss for a year then I came back to it then beat the game when I was 6 maby 7 I can’t remember that clearly but used to love this game it’s my favorite out of all the sky games
Also in the Vita version. If you play close attention, they remixed almost all of the songs in Sly 1, and they sound pathetic compared to the original ps2 version. The ps2 version is definitely the best way to play all of the Sly games, mostly because of the sound design. Unless you are desperate for HD.
Coleman Straight Sigh... but after seeing that Jak 1 got rereleased on PS4 by Naughty Dog themselves this time just taking the original PS2 and simply upscaling it along with the visuals restored that were not seen on PS3 HD version,I just hope Sucker Punch (I know Sanzaru is in charge though) does the same so we can get commentary back, the original music, along with resyncing it properly for Mz Ruby. But that’s just me.
the music in the hub creeps me out sooooo much. one day i was playing descent into danger and i got chills down my spine like 10 times! omg! so creepy...
Why is Ruby not wearing pants? Also I've seen a giant snake monster in the swamp, why couldn't that be the one you need the seven keys for and the cauldron require three keys? I'm sure being trapped behind the door for who knows how long would make the snake escort Sly to the boss and aid him in a little payback. What happened to the swamp snake after Ruby was arrested?
This was my favorite level of the game but until you learn the pattern it's really difficult especially at the end. I always felt bad for her though. She just wanted to be accepted and have friends.
This gave me so many issues as a 7 year old. I had literally no experience with any sort of rhythm based gameplay going into this, which may have added to it. Nowadays I can do this shit no problem.
She's a polite villain, explaining the way to survive her minigame.
Shame she hasn't made an appearance since. Even if she does overact. This level probably has the most memorable atmosphere, one a lot like Shadowman. As for the boss fight... granted it's based mostly on timing and quick time, but the music makes it worthwhile.
She got a life sentence... Though villains have broken out before.
Or Released @@CZsWorld
hardest boss of the whole series
Same as Sir Raleigh. I think tney're the only ones who haven't.
Seriously one of the catchiest video game boss fights in history
Music themed boss, genius
“Well if he’s anything like the rest of you, I think I’ll manage” ABSOLUTELY DESTROYED
Sucks that this boss music is de-synced in the collection.
nightmare4236 it is?
Yeah. The first phase is fine but the other two are broken.
Blaze Night so glad I still have the ps2 cd's
Yeah, I felt like something was wrong, I have a great sense of rhythm and kept dying.
No kidding....It's like, what the heck happened? Maybe it was the computer programming that messed up the syncing.
The Mz Ruby level gave me the creeps as a kid it sent chills down my spine and when I was a kid that big swamp sea serpent thing made my heart race it was so scary having a big giant swamp eel trying to eat you.
I was also scared of those ghost cats.

This is legitimately one of my favorite bosses in the history of video game bosses!
Especially at 5:53
this section of the game creeped me out when i was little
but for me, it was great

Agree, this one brings memories of my kids playing it, I liked the beat.
The reason I love the Mz Ruby and Panda King fights wasn't because they were awesome (and believe me, they were), it was because of the way they danced while they talked. It's just so funny.
Panda King wasn’t dancing, it’s a moving stance that fighters like Marshall Law have.
I just noticed that they animated Mz. Ruby's belly with jiggle physics; they knew exactly what they were doing.
And crocodiles come from eggs. They don't have belly buttons. Now imagine where that Ruby is.
@@sasir2013 Are we REALLY gonna apply realism to a world where raccoons can take down gangs, turtles are scientists, and hippos can drive cars?
@@Jaceblue04 of course not. I was just doing a silly joke.
The triangle move can NOT be good for your back.
Unless your extremely flexible
Mz Ruby sounds more like a Louisianan than a Haitian.
There’s a difference?
I think that’s the inspiration probably
Please explain @@snooziblu?

The production of zombies, made illegal in the World Peace Accord of 1971..." I cracked up at that line.
I must not be the only person who thinks this, but this was, and still kinda is, the most frustrating boss I have ever fought.
Randomnessam1 I thought it was a pain my first time
Randomnessam1 Agreed, but the most frustrating boss Ive fought was Clyde in Pac Man World 2.
Randomnessam1 It's so annoying mainly because my controller isn't responsive might have to buy a new one just to defeat this boss!!!
The reason she was hard in that game was because she was supposed to be the boss you fought before clockwork
The remastered edition doesn't sync with the audio
Well if chem wants to flap...THEEEN LET THEMM FLAAAAAAP
3:54 sly: sounds easy enough. *later* sly: never have i been so wrong

I've beaten this boss with my eyes closed just by memorizing the buttons and Mz. Ruby's attack pattern. Thumbs up if you have, too, and don't lie!
this boss fight was a big milestone for me and my love for gaming, i learned how to memorize the buttons on my controller ( this was when i was a kid ) now i'm doing FPS tournaments. THANKS RUBY! :D
at the last phase, I was like holy shit! this is intense
It seems like she + Sir Raleigh have the slowest speeches in this game.
Her singing is fast though
Well back then they can take thier time dialoging thier characters. What they made up for sound effects, they made up with voice acting.
@@ytw101 It was merely an observation. Out of all the bosses, Mz Ruby is my favorite.
I kinda feel sorry for her. Perhaps if she had one friend as a child, there would be one less villain in the world.
I love how fluid his dodging animations were in this fight. It's especially realistic at 6:04
When it goes from Triangle to X it sounds like "voo doo"
He said: Get Back VooDoo
Mz. Ruby's attitude should be a big indicator as to what the words are. Listen to SLY carefully. The words are "Dig that voodoo!"
Jackson Holt BIG BAD VOO DOO
Oh man this is one of my most favorite boss battles ever and the music was great also i did it with my eyes close
Im surprised Sly isnt way more hostile towards them. They killed his parents.
Yeah, I mean most people would be in raged
Because he fights to win, not to lose is the reason
@@matrix91234 he was hostile to the panda king in sly 3

He’s plenty angry, but on _their_ turf, it’s much more important to keep a cool head.
I can quote her monologue from memory
Most lit boss battle ever made 😱
Fr 🔥
Dig Dat Voo Doo. Clever.
"Gabriel Knight: What can you tell me about voodoo?"
This is the special kind of charm the sly games used to have.
That was actually a really fun boss battle.
Get Back Get Back...VooDoo That's kinda catchy isn't it folks?
Dig that Voo Doo
If these games ever get a remaster, this is the first thing im checking out
thought it was "Big Bad Voo Doo"
Is it weird that I can quote almost every conversation in this game perfectly?
Nope. In fact, it’s very impressive. 🙂
I just love the headlines after you beat the boss
Playing throughout this whole game explains everybody who the mysterious 5 is about that murdered Sly's family.
heh it was pretty cool that at the beginning you were swinging the cane to the beat of the music nice

"Dig that Dig"
"Dig that Groove"
"Voo Doo"
"Dig that Voo Doo"
