  • A short video about the ergonomics of my Bont Vaypor S shoes, Naboso footbeds with G8 arch insets, and PRO PLT Ergo Carbon handlebars. I filmed this in California after completing my final class at the Chek Institute, Integrated Movement Specialist Level 5. It was a firehose of information, learning and understanding. Next is Integration!

    Hi Colby, I pulled the trigger and bought some pro ergo bars. They are amazing! Love the drop near hoods to allow smooth platform for wrists to sit on. Can hold a very aero 90degree elbow bend on hoods AND be comfortable. I didn't get how much better the back sweep is for when on the tops until I ride them and totally got it. All hand positions have no KINKS lol! Cheers

    Hi colby,
    I did the Same with my naboso Insoles. I Used the neuron though. For the arch i used the one from lintaman which is super flexi Made of Carbon. It works like a spring which is a super nice Feature.
    Also i experimented with the lintaman a1 shoe, where you can adjust and Change the heel cup which gave me incredible results. You can really activate the harmstrings or engage the quads which basically untwisted my on my bike. Would be happy the hear about your thoughts on this 😊 thanks for so much Inspiration over the years

    Colby dynamic stuff as always. Question, have you tried the brooks range of c saddles (c13,c15,c17) I currently use one of them for my gravel rig (c17) and I find the material to have a nice spring similar to what I imagine the GELU to be

      I have not tried the Brooks C range but they look interesting. Maybe a future adventure. I like the concept of the leather hammock style saddle.

    Really interesting video Colby, so thanks for sharing.
    As someone who suffers from significant pain in my 1st metatarsal when cycling, I’ve been adding more and more arch support (using G8 L5 plus additional tape under the arch) without resolving the problem, so your insights are really helpful.
    I too had the same issue you describe with the Wahoo pedals, having to send three pairs back within a month of using them as the lateral rock caused significant instability at the foot and saddle. I’ve since switched to Assiomas, but would be keen to move back to Speedplay if the issue can be resolved, so look forward to hearing more about your solution in a future episode.

      If the reason for using Speedplay is more Q factor, then SQ Labs pedals may help.

      Yeah I used to recommend SP but now that Wahoo has done whatever they did to them, I can't recommend them anymore. I will do a video on my hack, it's not an easy one but it works

      Shimano also has road pedals with +4mm axles, these are excellent

    Great video, Colby. Do you know of any resources that advise how to support feet with a longer 2nd metatarsal? When i flex my toes, most of the pressure is centered there, not the 1st.

    • @cyclinginalignment
      @cyclinginalignment  Před 10 měsíci

      I would be making a hole in the end of my shoe for the 2nd toe in this case...but that is an unorthodox solution :-)

      @@cyclinginalignment Thanks, Colby. Not really a toe length issue here anymore ... I've long since broken both 2nd toes several times, and, as a result, they are now the same length as my big toes. My issue is that when I walk and pedal, most of the pressure is centered on the 2nd met head. Any other unorthodox solutions since forefoot wedging doesn't seem to help much at all.

      @@mitchellrivers4924 You could try cutting out the footbed under the toe in that position to give it some relief. Just I have done with the first in this video

    That was a cool approach to cycling shoes, thanks! I use minimal footwear for years now and even looking at most cycling shoes makes me cringe, so I just use flat pedals and Vivos. Do you perhaps know any SPD shoes that are soft and have a toe box as you'd prefer? Thanks!

    • @cyclinginalignment
      @cyclinginalignment  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Flat pedals and Vivos are an excellent solution. Have you seen the pedals from James Wilson? Catalyst pedals, longest on the market. They are awesome for minimal shoe flat pedal combo. I don't know any SPD shoes that fit these parameters...yet
