  • In the latest video on the Festfloor channel, Tom from Your Wall demonstrates a proven way to apply microcement in a linear drain. The video is the perfect guide for those who want to learn how to professionally apply microcement in a bathroom, especially with a linear drain.
Tom starts by showing a bathroom where the installer prepared the linear drain for microcement. He explains the importance of preparing the drain correctly, including reprofiling the gradient and treating the drain with aggregate epoxy resin.
Then, once the waterproofing has been completed, Tom checks the moisture content of the substrate with a meter to ensure it is suitable for further work. It is important that the moisture content of the substrate is below 4% to allow the epoxy resin to be used.
The video shows in detail the process of verifying the slope to the linear drain. Tom stresses that the required slope is a minimum of 2% per linear metre to ensure proper water run-off.
A key element of the video is to show the process of applying the aggregate epoxy resin, which is used to fill the space around the drain and across the slope. He also shows how to go about applying the Ardex brand of waterproofing, and uses Ardex SK12 tape to seal the drain and connect the wall to the linear drain.
Tom also explains the importance of thoroughly sanding the floor before applying microcement to ensure ideal conditions for application. He demonstrates how he prepares and layers the microcement, detailing each step from mixing the materials to application.
The video concludes with advice on sealing the microcement with TURBO solvent sealer, emphasising the importance of taking care when working safely.
