    I've just discovered V8 supercars but I love it. It takes the best parts of F1, NASCAR, and WRC and puts them in the same place. So awesome.

      @@daciasandero2758 The massive crashes, mainly (along with the speed of NASCAR & the skill of F1). But, like all forms of motorsport, the crashes in V8SC were a lot more serious in days gone by. WRC Group B cars of the 1980s is perhaps the best example. Those things were crazily fast (Audi Quattro S1, Peugeot 205 T16, Ford RS200 etc.), & when the driver got it wrong, well, you can imagine the horrific consequences... :-/

    Ouch, some really hard hits there. You know it's been a good hard hit when they manage to break the in-car cameras. I remember the Jason Richards roll, the commentators had literally just finished talking about Cam McLeans' Porsche roll and then Jason was assisted into copying it. I think Jason Richards actually went further than the Porsche did, the marks left by the Porsche were still clearly visible on the grass and Jason definitely rolled a fair bit further, not that these guys are at all competitive...

    • @vinred1965

    • @gosportjamie
      @gosportjamie Před 6 lety

      +Vin Red I don't think there was any intent there, it was just a racing incident. Nobody wants to see this kind of thing happen, especially not the drivers. The main cause of this was some really poor design at that area of the track which was changed shortly after this and the Porsche crashes. It's just a shame that it took these events for people to realise it was a bad idea as both of these could very easily have had infinitely worse results...

    I would've put Mostert's crash lower, and Lowndes' Calder rollover higher. Swap the Bathurst 1998 pile-up with the one at Tasmania 2017, but I otherwise agree with this list...

    • @adamzeitinger9867
      @adamzeitinger9867 Před 6 lety +13

      Agree with the swapping of 1998 pile up with the tassie one, but Mostert's Bathurst crash is by far the biggest crash in Supercars by a mile. Yes, Craig's Calder crash was huge and it's iconic now in Supercars but when you compare the two - Mosterts comes out on top in terms of damage to both car and driver (different ERA's of cars obviously but still) from memory Lowndes was only out 1 round due to knee surgery from the crash where as Chaz was out recovering for the rest of the season and off season due to his injuries.

    Good choices here, I agree with number one, I still get shivers as much now as when I first saw that in 2015. I might have changed Bathurst 1998 for Tassie 2017 and Bargwanna's 2002 Phillip Island shunt for Courtney and Premat's 2013 shunt at Phillip Island, because they were more violent in terms of impact and also wrote off cars whereas Bathurst '98 and '02 Phillip Island, all of the cars survived.

    • @TrickyMario7654
      @TrickyMario7654 Před 6 lety +1

      Premat's car survived and raced in Super2 in 2016 and 2017 plus the wildcard at Bathurst in 2015 but so extensive was the damage that Courtney's can't ever be raced again and it is now used for in house R&D projects, not sure what it looks like now.

      That’s not the hand brake, those levers are used by the drivers to adjust the front and rear roll bars, I’d say he’s just grabbed it for the sake of holding onto something in the chaos.
      The hand brake is only a little thing right down near the seat because they really only get used for race starts.

      The fuel tanks back then were located behind the rear axle. By 2013 it was moved to in-front of the rear axle.

    It's quite funny in the #1 crash, on the inside view you see him trying to use the hand brake, bit late, but I suppose it was just a natural reaction
