    Very important correction: during air combat, roll SAS is switched off. You can find Victory205 mentioning this all over the official forums.

    Also, with AP engaged and A/P reference light on, when you let go of the stick, it will hold that attitude. Like the hold mode in the Apache AH-64. If you are doing maneuvers, make sure AP engage switch is turned off or the jet will have a laggy response.

    Thank you. Just watched your F-14B's video and in each of them you apologize for the camera's movement. You can assign a hotkey button in TrackIR settings to freeze it at actual point (;

    For those curious, the VEC/PCD is intended to integrate with not only the carrier datalink, but also GCI/SAGE air defense systems that also use Link-4. This allows ground control of the 'Cat, so GCI can remotely vector the aircraft into an intercept-useful in a crowded interception environment or one subject to voice jamming. VEC (vector) is heading/range guidance only, PCD (precision command) is heading/range/altitude. While not implemented now, I could see it being used with Combined Arms, such that a ground controller/AWACS could direct a whole squadron of aircraft without voice commands.
    Indeed, by using PCD in combination with D/L BOMB mode on the A/G panel in the RIO's pit, you could have a JTAC remotely bringing a strike aircraft onto a bomb run. Could be some cool stuff, if they ever implement it.

      I find with it switched on but not engaged (ie dont press noseheel steer button) it acts almost like fbw ie it doesnt wander around nearly as much and i rarely have trim it out either

    Apparently a bug was reported for many missing keybind options "hsd selected heading" being one of them. This was reported back in 2019. Anyone know if this got sorted by now?

  • @JHallin
    @JHallin Před 5 lety +2

    I noticed something while fiddling with the switches that I did not see you touch on here and I wonder if you have the answer. When you turn on just the engage switch leaving all other switches in the default the flight dynamics of the jet change. It makes the jet feel more digital than analogue. For example lets say you are rolling from right to left and then want to stop the roll. Well i notice the roll drifts in normal flight but when the engage switch is on the roll will stop in a more direct, precise feeling, manner. Do you know why it does this? Have you noticed it? Thanks for the videos. I am new to DCS and your videos have been very helpful.

    • @JHallin
      @JHallin Před 5 lety

      @Southern Fun Yeah that is exactly what I noticed. There is something there for sure, just not sure what it is. Glitch or design?

    • @Shloomy_Shloms
      @Shloomy_Shloms Před 5 lety

      J Hallin yeah it prevents any drift and I don’t even have to manually trim the plane in flight, it pretty much holds your plane in the exact position you let go of your stick and prevents any sort of drifting, I’m hoping it’s an actual real system, I don’t see why it wouldn’t be

    • @Goodmanisback
      @Goodmanisback Před 5 lety

      I noticed that too and I quite use it a lot now! It "trims" the plane for me, which is really nice when I try to refuel, and it even trims you for AoA when you try to land and get down to a certain speed!

    • @Shloomy_Shloms
      @Shloomy_Shloms Před 5 lety +4

      tms2196 I read up a little now and on the heatblur site in the manual it says (copy paste from manual) “By setting the autopilot ENGAGE switch to on the attitude hold is engaged, maintaining current aircraft attitude. Limited to within 30° pitch and 60° roll angles and the aircraft will be automatically moved within this range. Current attitude can be changed with the control stick and will be held when the stick is released.”

    When you flip the acm cover up it takes off some of the stability controls. Are you supposed to dogfight with them off?

    • @beny874
      @beny874 Před 5 lety +2

      Yes.
      He didn't quite get that right. It isnt like the FCS in the hornet. It's also like the roll SAS is supposed to he turned off in certain carrier approaches as well. I forgot the exact specifics.
      The reason being in ACM is because the spoilers over the wing will have very very very bad effects in low speed high AOA manoeuvring.
