    My father was a faithful JW for decades. When he was ill the congregation came to visit him a handful of times. Then, in 2021, when he died, his congregation complained of the time his funeral was because it clashed with their meeting. That was a wake-up call for me and left this cult.
    Hang in there, man! We get another chance at life now. I'm excited to celebrate my first Christmas this year 🤗

    That’s true, I agree with you, Micah. I was 25 or 26 when I went in, and within three years I was in, I was so fully indoctrinated that (also an Artist), I drew myself being split in half. I was intelligent and though I loved the people, I was exhausted and asked questions and disagreed with certain doctrines because I saw suicide, deaths due to the no blood doctrine, no feelings of grief, no growth, child abuse, isolation and how hard the life is on little children...on and on. So they punished me for being me. And yes they want you to fail and die outside and the shunning helps the disfellowshipped person WANT to either crawl back or give up and die. The best revenge is TO LIVE WELL! Live long and well, my friend.

    I can tell Micah is highly intelligent and has worked hard to overcome so much. What an inspiration. One thing that was brought to my attention yesterday is that we as JWs were never allowed to be angry or show anger. They always wanted you to suppress those very real and often justified feelings. We were always told we aren’t trusting in God or his organization if you feel or display anger. The reality is, that’s just not healthy to not be able to have those emotions.

    • @kayb6803
      @kayb6803 Před 10 měsíci +6

      I felt we were taught to disassociate from basically all emotions! You weren't allowed to be really happy because that would be the accomplishment of some personal desire on your part so that's not allowed. Desire is selfish, so happy is a no. You can't be sad about anything because "we're God's happy people!". So, any legit reasons for despair was a no no. Like Micah said, not even allowed to grieve a loved one who has passed. And no, you can't be angry either. You just had to completely stifle anything that made you human. It's no wonder the majority of JWs are depressed.

    Perhaps someday, I'll be the one telling my story here.
    My dad died Aug 14th, 1995, from liver cancer, one week after his 41st birthday.
    Witnesses also abandoned me and my jw family for the first time shortly after my place burned down. I had lost everything in the fire without insurance.
    A few months after my second hip replacement, I was disabled and forced to live in my poorly running-cheap car.
    If you haven't been abandoned before by people who claim to love you, let's say it's highly unhealthy for your mental state.
    It's taken over ten years to heal.
    In the end, my lessons were learned via scientific facts. My PTSD took a lot of professional assistance to move past it, and it still resurfaces occasionally.
    It's difficult waking up at 2 am every morning for 10+ years in absolute terror that I'm about to die again. 😢 I know many people wouldn't and haven't survived because it's too much to handle.
    The scripture that god doesn't allow us more than we can handle is a lie. If it were true, suicide would not be a thing.
    I had to move past my absolute fierce anger towards my family.
    Now I feel pity for them. They're also lifelong victims of the watchtower's brainwashing.
    I've forgiven them and shown them the flaws of conditional love.
    Each time I speak to my mom and oldest brother (who are the only ones that will talk to me.) I wake them up a little. It's working.
    Now one of my primary goals is to end Involuntary Homelessness.
    I'm an inventor and believe my technologies can also stabilize the climate.
    Come to me, my Ex-JW brethren
    We now carry the beacon of light representing the Real Truth.
    When we all Unite under one banner, the world as we know it can be transformed into a real-life Paradise.

    Your saving grace is your Writing. You have a wonderful, terrible story to tell and I’m so glad you have spoken out. We former JWs all have the need to express the pain we’ve suffered in WT. I’m on your side. Your life is just Beginning for good...(I’m 74 and I’m just discovering my life as joyful!) I also lost all and loved ones when I was shunned. By my age now, wow, I can say I know life. I’ve experienced it all! I DID nearly self-destruct until I found nice people “in the world”...real life! Good for you, my friend. Keep writing and talking to us, there are so many formers who need to hear! Much love ❤

    Micah said, "Watchtower wants you to die." That is why I call them a modern day human sacrificing cult. They have many methods of making human sacrifices, whether its by being so cruel that people take their own lives, or refuse a blood transfusion & die, "taking a spiritual stand against a government or rebel fighters", going to prison rather than fighting in a war, sacrificing having children or getting married, going without enough money to support yourself, having no Social Security in old age, giving your entire life & future to the org, or spiritually slitting your throat in a judicial meeting & killing you off spiritually. Im sure I missed a few ways in that list.

    • @malcontent1982
      @malcontent1982 Před 10 měsíci +2

      Each death provides an opportunistic chance for them to prey on vulnerable, grieving people at the "funerals," which usually barely speak about the deceased #JW. It also reinforces their "us-vs-them" mentality, and their belief that they will suffer if they abandon "Jehovah." Each dead JW frightens them, and when you're afraid your thinking is emotional and survival oriented.
      Watchtower has much to atone for. They raised us to be fearless, to be a martyr, to speak our minds no matter what and they tortured us. They taught me to be articulate, and taught me how to speak publicly. They have created many people that can assist in their undoing. Inundate #JWs with hashtags, retweets, reposts. Consistent effort toward a goal will yield results.
      I never had a life and I don't have much of one now. But Watchtower doesn't know how to handle those that they discard and don't die. They just say, "Don't listen, don't look, don't read, don't watch." We are legion. Give them hell.

It doesn't change the fact that they raised us to fearlessly go up to houses as children and try to convert them, or to use words to affect people. The JW crap can be discarded and positive attributes can be retained and more importantly used against Watchtower.
      Their intention doesn't matter, the only control they have over you is what you allow them.

Anyone who has seen the blank stare in the eyes of an indoctrinated JW knows there is zero empathy behind them. Destitute, addicted and living on the streets. They don't care. Thank you Vervian for the opportunity to hear Micah's life story . The sad part of his story is that in becoming a witness , one looses that part of his or hers heart felt conscience , their empathy towards the pain or overwhelming problems of those who don't have the resources or the family support to care for them in their hour of need . The societies High Control Policies allow little room for acting out of any kind of pain or anger . The scriptures are full of examples of those who acted out because of love , hate , fear , desperation , lust , revenge , or the need to survive . Most were handled without a committee of self appointed men who were order to perform their duty by a book written by men who make the claim that they're directed by God , that takes away the understanding and empathy behind those problems , and makes judgement decisions based on a statement written in the paragraph , like finding the answers to the questions written in the watchtower study articles . The witnesses are told that loosing everything when shunned is a loving deed . But is the forcing of a person to do a cults bidding or to follow their high control policies by taking away their family or loved ones companionship really doing Gods will ?, some would call that a hardened socialistic to a restrictive form of communistic control .The Governing Body will tell you what to think and say . My hope is that Micah will find peace and a path that leads to contentment with the Lords help .

They ask you how you are doing and you give them an honest answer if you aren’t well and it’s always “that’s too bad” and their version of “help” is always “spiritual” help aka non existent prayer anyone they see as “needy” it’s always up to Jehovah never what they as a congregation can do to help

    "Nobody ever joins the JW org if they're happy". Great insight. So true. There's so much depth to that comment. Does Jehovah feel sad when someone is happy, because they're less likely to join his ONLY vehicle for them being saved? But...isn't simple joy and happiness - INNOCENT happiness I'm talking about here - not something that would please Jehovah? He wants his children to be happy, yet...makes it so that we must be desperate to join his one and only vehicle to paradise? Make it make sense, folks!
