I often wonder wonder why people don't shoot big productions movies with this camera anymore because the picture quality is unmatched. Great shots, by the way.
@@PLArseneau It's a tricky camera to get nice footage from. Highlights can clip in an ugly way, and it has a very slow readout/rolling shutter making unstabilized footage look terrible unless you are using wide angle lenses. Micro HDMI port makes rigging awkward.
Oh man. Spectacular! And what a perfect choice for background music! Just, beautiful. Quick question: how did you power the OG, with internal batteries (a billion of them, I assume), or via the 12V connector?
I Actually only travelled with 2 internal batteries. I recently bought new ones for this particular trip so they were full of juice. Lasted about an hour powered on while shooting. I didn't shoot much, I only had the camera in my hip pack for the whole trip and would whip it out to get a clip when appropriate. These clips above are about the extent of what I shot while I was there so I only had to charge the batteries once during a 10 day trip!

@@PLArseneau nice thanks for the tip. Yea Ive noticed allot of videos the colors always come out Dull when they color for this camera . You’re the first one I’ve seen that made the colors pop and look good .
very pleasing footage! what stabilization settings did you go with? that footage is surprisingly stable considering the tiny size and light weight of the cam. also, did you find it inconvenient to compose and monitor shots with the fixed screen?
this is amazing! I was looking at new cameras then I went back to some OG footage and just ordered the 0.58 speed booster instead haha. Did you shoot cDNG?
I've shared my grading treenode below in other comments, is there anything specific you'd like to know? I don't mind sharing screenshots of the parameters but everyshot had slightly different settings to match the exposure/colors.
@@pablovanwetten Absolutely! Let me just write it here: NR on the first node CST to Arri Log C second node Dehancer third node Raw settings were, lowered highlights, lowered sharpness and a tiny bit extra color boost. Some shots I also lifted the shadows in the raw tab aswell. Dehancer was Fuji eterna stock, Fuji print, some gate weave, film breath and a tiny bit of grain. Some color head adjustments for balancing purposes. And voila!
@@PLArseneau Fantastic, thank you, very kind. Just one more question; Would a screenshot of the CST settings be useful because there are so many tabs/menu drop-downs... Wich of the settings should be set to Arri Log C.?? input/output and so many more options....Thank you for being so patient!

Was kinda fed up today with the BMPCC OG in terms of gear I have to add on to it to make this thing truly shine. Was thinking to move over to an FX3 or X-H2S but then saw this. Think I just might hold on to it... This looks crazy
I would say do hold onto it! Depends what you use it for. I've used it for more professional projects and it was a bit of a pain in terms of I/O, but as a travel cam and b roll cam, it can't be beaten for the price/IQ ratio. Cinema DNG is a much better codec than whatever the FX3 has in terms of colorgrading abilities and 1080p isn't a crutch, the difference is barely noticeable from 4k and if you REALLY want 4k you can always upscale in post. Tbh, I prefer the "softness" of 1080p on this sensor so I never upscale.
@@Dennis4Videos Dehancer is simply a colorgrading pluggin that you can use in Davinci or Premier that makes it wayy easier to achieve a proper film emulation. It was grain that becomes baked into the footage instead of just overlayed, and a ton of other film emulation adjustments and stocks and prints. It's neat to have when working with these types of sensors I find. They already look super filmic and you just need to get the roll off/exposure curve and colors closer to actual film and it makes your footage a lot more pleasing.
That's one of the best bmpcc og footage i've ever seen. Congratz man!

do you use ISO 400 for cleaner shadows or ISO 800 for maximum dynamic range?
