CC's rookie salary is $76,535. It's regulated by a collective bargaining agreement between the players union and the owners. WNBA brings in $200 million, while the NBA brings in $10 billion annually. The WNBA brings in 2% of what the NBA brings in. That's why there's a huge salary difference between men and women's sports. NBA has subsidized the women's league for its entire existence, because it loses money every year. How much do you think it costs to operate a sports franchise every year? Player salaries, coaches salaries, stadium, stadium staff, uniforms, transportation, transportation staff, athletic trainers, medical team, doctors, food and nutrition, exercise and practice facilities, facility staff. That's just the tip of the iceberg. We havent even got into luxury tax or any of the other legal headaches, legal team, lawyers, accountants. That's where the other money goes dawg

Rookie contract scales are set by the WNBA, just like the NBA rookies. There are no negotiations. It is set by their draft spot.
Don't worry about her. She got a Nike contract. Just like the NBA rookies, they make their really big money from ads and sponsorships.
The rookie contract scale is all relative to what the WNBA makes in profits (loses millions) and what the NBA makes in profits (about 10 Billion in 2023)
As the WNBA becomes more profitable, the contracts will move up as well.

Reese is not even in the conversation
Clark has moved the numbers across all houses and every away game is a sellout,
Fever with an average of 7,332.15 in 2023 and 2024 with Clark at 15,332.92 with 20,333 at the all-time high, throw in the increase in home sales in 2023 of 4,066.80, 2024 at 16,757
    Chicago Sky in 2023 7,241.70 home, with Reese 8,658.60 - 1,416.9 more
Chicago Sky in 2023 is 6,447.40 home, with Reese 10,471.29 looks good until you back out Clarks games. 34,548 and their total drops from 73,299 to 38,751 or 7,750.2 on average over 5 games an increase of only 1,303 more per game.

In fairness, yes pay CC - but also, return some money to the NBA. They’ve poured billions into the WNBA, they should get some back now that they’re earning

I wonder why she didn't negotiate a better contract. demand 1 million a year salary plus percent on ticket sales, merch sales. if she didn't get it, she walks and plays in Europe. WNBA players would still be playing in high school gyms, riding on a greyhound bus and flying Southwest. People still asking who is that player

I thought Rookie contracts were set by the WNBA in advance, it has nothing to do with who is signed.

@@nathanthompson3401 She tells them this is what I want, they say no, she says have a nice day. that is how you negotiate a contract, F what the league has in place. The league contracts keep players flying Southwest, riding greyhound buses and play in high school gyms. Clark takes the summer off, plays in Europe and the rest is history, she did with NIL, she can do it in the WNBA.

She will be making the same salary as her Coach, so won't set well with Kristi and she'll have to have a raise The WNBA will have more to complain about, even though they should be happy because it helps all financially
