Mary Sandeman was a Scottish folk singer. In 1982 she came to my school in Scotland and did a concert. Love this song it's still good after all these years.

Cool. I always thought this song was from middle 80s. I was surprised to learn that this amazing hit was made in 1981. It was before its time.
The beat is pretty early 80s tbh, the synthesizers were my really that developed in the early 80s
The syndrum gives it away as late 70s or very early 80s. Syndrums got replaced by Linn drum machines and the Roland TR series from 1981 on
