I like Castrovalva since its like you're experiencing it in real time. The montage thing is nice for 4s end though
Always disliked the Castrovalva ‘Edit’, but then I was ‘in mourning’ for Tom’s portrayal, indeed I still haven’t really got over it!
I like the intro music transition in the Castrovalva version, because its like it's one song, because both tracks have the same bpm, it transitions really well. I love it when shows do that
I always love the way Tom is wearing calf length boots with his trousers tucked in, but Peter is wearing brown brogues with plus fours and argyle socks. I noticed it back then and I notice it every time since.
Definitely glad they re-recorded that "He was the Doctor all the time" line, it felt so out of place
Sarah Sutton has nothing but my sympathy for having to be the one to deliver that forced Expostion dump.
The saddest day in Doctor Who. The series was never the same after Tom's excellent, and very alien, portrayal of the Doctor.
They should do this to get rid of the bi-generation headache later on. Have 14 absorb into 15 for 16 to come.
Russell has stated that 14 did still go on adventures but would inevitably meet his end, idk if that means he’ll regenerate into 15 and pop back up when he bi generated but I don’t think he’ll be used for 16ths appearance
I am using The Watcher to retcon a LOT of stuff when I'm in charge!!! And it's all canon because it's from 1980s Classic!
Ah yes, the semi-generation.
Doctor....doctor.....doctor....doctor....
nice !
So they made the music not as good, had the actors give a duller performance and cut out the companion montage…why?
I mean cutting out the companion montage makes sense, Castrovalva is Peter's opener, not Tom's goodbye.
The programme hadn’t been on air for 9 months (the longest gap between series at that point). No on-demand, catch-up, streaming or purchase options back then so this was just a brief “refresher” before we started with Peter in earnest. The music was by the same composer, tweaked to be more upbeat to reflect introducing a new Doctor as opposed to saying goodbye to an old one and what would be the point of showing a montage of the 4th Doctors companions to greet the 5th?
Nothing was re-shot so the actors are literally giving the exact same performance they did in “Logopolis”.
@htershane You listen to the two times Adric says Doctor, it sounds like the second version was dubbed over to make it sound less desperate.
@@josephchambers2000 in Logopolis Adric says “Doctor” twice, the second is more urgent so they just used chopped the first one for the Castrovalva edit.
Kind of lame for the 4th Doctor to die from a fall onto soft ground
10th Doctor fell from a moving space ship high in the sky through a glass skylight onto a hard floor and recovered
Of course, 6th Doctor was the absolute worst, with a slight bump while inside the TARDIS
I actually love both versions. Logopolis' music makes it feel like a last farewell to the old Doctor, while I feel like Castrovalva's music gives it the feeling of something new being born.
