Many cursed and rejected it because it was considered "BAD" for KPOP IDOL. But they proved it with hard work and talent and they still survive with increasingly brilliant and successful careers to this day...

Had to stop to comment this..BTS didn't come from a big company either..Almost went bankrupt once..They have literally built themselves from the underdogs to the LEGENDS that they are today..Btw, the group that was shown after Blackpink Was EXO- a group by SM that is a part of Big 3..
they almost disbanded after 1 year . they had do own choreo, costumes and had to put money together to go buy food many times..grateful they made it

Great reaction - loved the way you responded with your own thoughts. I've only watched your Mamamoo reactions but I've had the sense that Justin was politely feeling his way as a newcomer to kpop so it was great to hear him let loose with opinions about Mamamoo's social impact now and in the future. I feel the same way. Imo most kpop songs are what pop songs have always been - disposable consumer items with a short shelf life. Not that pop songs can't be lots of fun, they're just not built to last. Mamamoo is underrated or underappreciated at this time but they're going to be remembered as one of the most important artists in the history of kpop and their music is going to be listened to for a long time. Someday grad students will write their master's thesis or doctoral dissertation on Mamamoo's 4 Season 4 Color project, which is much more complex than the brief description by nahiseokie. One of the ways they're underrated is that the most complex, ambitious album series ever done by a girl group, an historic, landmark achievement, didn't earn Mamamoo an Artist of the Year or Best Female Artist award.
There's much more to Solar's solo career than the "official" way of looking at it. Solar was the last member to make her official solo debut with the song Spit It Out in 2020 but that's very deceptive. Solar was the first member to release solo songs with MVs with a series of covers between 2015-18 which were collected on the first solo album by a MMM member called Solar Gamsung (Emotion or Sensitivity) in 2018, coinciding with several solo concerts. A moomoo recently reminded me that she was not only the first Mamamoo member to hold solo concerts, she was the first member of a 3rd generation idol group to hold solo concerts. Mamamoo appeared on the singing competition tv show Immortal Songs 14 times between 2015-19 but in 2019 Solar became the only member to compete as a soloist. She also performed as a soloist on tv shows, award shows and special events and did collaborations, features and performances with other artists many times over the years. So she did a bunch of stuff on her own since Mamamoo's rookie days but in kpop's way of looking at it none of that counts as having debuted as a soloist and it wasn't until she released an original song with an MV and promoted it on the tv music shows in 2020 that she officially made her debut as a solo artist.
To follow up on Justin's question, yes, Solar made her critically acclaimed musical theatre debut last year playing the lead in Mata Hari for a 3 month run and in January she'll play Esmeralda in Notre Dame de Paris, which is a musical theatre version of the Hunchback of Notre Dame.
This is why I love groups like Mamamoo and (G)-Idle. Most groups keep a more ambiguous stance on things like feminism, climate change and lgbt rights (even when they benefit from queerbaiting). But these groups always go out of their way to show their support and it feels genuine
That group you confused for BTS is actually NCT + EXO + Aespa from SM Entertainment. Back when Mamamoo debuted only 3 companies were considered influential: SM, YG and JYP. BTS also made their names on their own from an underdog company, Big Hit. It was extremely difficult to get to the level that Mamamoo has gotten , coming from a company like theirs and with a ground brakeing concept like theirs (more mature).

the thing w/ the 4 seasons 4 colors project that makes the winter EP kinda off is bc the title tracks of each ep together tell a history of 1 relationship, so in the winter EP is that stage when you is over that situation, you wanto to enjoy life, get out, meet some new people, etc

They love their MooMoos. During the early years, they had bbq party with a few fans. Wheein ate some tteobokki and had a chat with moomoos. Hwasa free fan meeting, Byul being a barista for a day, etc.
They are magnificent! They have been from the start. I'm surprised they got so far. Because of all the risks they took. Other artists disappear. But they just refused to give in or give up. They are unstoppable.
in 5:40 the groups showed were blackpink and exo, bts's company history is just like mamamoo's, they come from little companies built upon their success 🤍

I saw them in concert this year in Nashville and THEY ...WERE ...AMAZING! I hope you get the chance to see them too someday.
Speaking of that, despite some people making assumptions, they have NOT disbanded. They have confirmed repeatedly that despite Hwasa not renewing her contract so she could pursue certain solo projects, and Wheein signing a non-exclusive also to do solo projects, etc. they are not disbanding and they are working on another Mamamoo album next year and possibly even a European tour. Contracts aren't always cut and dry, and just like pretty much everything else they've done in the industry their future will also be unconventional. More greatness to come!
SNSD was the first group that signed solo contracts with other companies (though they did come back under their original company … SM entertainment in 2022 … proving that it could be done).

As an ARMY who actually follows MAMAMOO, I would just like to put it out there because it seems you guys have the wrong idea.
BTS ALSO DID NOT COME FROM A BIG AGENCY. They also came from a very small almost close to bankruptcy company. They may be huge today but it wasn't like that for a long time.
This is the case for groups like BTS, MAMAMOO and SEVENTEEN. These are some of the biggest groups (though MAMAMOO is overlooked due to bigger girl groups).
These three groups made it all the way in their careers through their own efforts.
What do you expect they react to a lot of BlackPink video's where Blink's constantly give false info
I don't really care if it's Blinks or whoever. These two guys just seem to be really nice people idk I feel that way. I think they understand the complexities in plots and all very well so I love watching their reactions.
It's obviously their wish if they don't like BTS, that's just a personal choice. I just really don't like when people spread false info about BTS like that. I think every ARMY understands this.
If they think Mamamoo went through a lot, they have no idea what BTS goes through and what they deal with.

Mamamoo are 4 of the mosted talented singers I have come across in my 58 years on this planet. Surely my age shows their versatility in attracting people of all ages and life throughout the world. They are phenomenal 😍
Just another thought for you guys. If you really want to see some very close real interactions of the girls, watch some of the MoonSun, WheeByul, Wheesun, Hwasun ect videos. They are called shipping videos. However if you watch them in the proper mind set you will see real time reactions to each other as friends and teammates that are having fun/ going through troubles together and just being real family. Just do not read too much into it other than their real relationship these beauties have with each other and the respect they have also. See how many times when one was doing a solo promotion one or even two of the other members would send a coffee truck, bring Pizzas for everyone, come and support them at their performance. The list goes on.

I want to clarify one thing Harris mentioned. BTS were NOT privileged when they debuted. They were in a similar boat as Mamamoo when they started. Their company was not part of the Big 3 companies and didn't get those special privileges right off the bat. Of course, that's definitely not the case now, as BTS is incredibly successful worldwide.
Big Hit had a lot of ties with JYP and even managed 2AM together, so they were definitely not as small as RBW

I still think they’re pretty underrated (bc a lot of people will say they aren’t considering their popularity in Korea) given they have some of the most content out of all other kpop groups with seemingly endless amounts of music covers, live performances, albums etc and they barely get enough recognition for the quality they consistently give us. Meanwhile, groups from the big 3 (4?) and BTS sneeze and it turns into a sensation. No other group has all members who are as individually and collectively all-rounded as Mamamoo. For me every Kpop group has at least one weak link. These girls are all incredibly powerful: vocals, performance, charisma, strong composers, producers, choreographers…they can all do it all.
You can have your opinion definitely but I don't think you should mention BTS here..They have absolutely worked all day long to be where they are today..They also came from a poor company who didn't have all the facilities..Now, everything that they do is a sensation because they rightfully deserve so..
its very bold of you to say that this is the only group that has no weak link. you can talk good about Mamamoo without downplaying the skills of other groups. i think its very immature way of thinking. Mamamoo is my fave GG by far ; i think its the best girl group in terms of vocals, but not at all in term of performance and producing not even composing. i can get behind the well rounded comment because their stages are never dull. but girl please. you have litteraly no idea of what you are talking about. even i can see that other GG have more charisma when it comes to group lives ( not solos): aespa, lesserafim, Gidle. BUT i always prefer mamamoo's because of authenticity. seventeen is a group that doesn't even need choreographers most of the time, they most definitely dont need a producer . they have everything WITHIN the group. we have BTS ( as you say they sneeze and they get recognized) but do you even know what they had to go trough to be at this stage ? what about stray kids? please stop saying uneducated stuff like this, its embarrassing and its giving delusion at its finest. @@stevep1227 it should but i also don’t understand why only EPs or singles are considered solo. Even solar gamsung wasn’t considered an actual solo release when other idols also release remake albums. Joy from Red Velvet even debuted solo with a remake album, Apink Eunji and IU also have them. I personally consider all of mmm’s solo releases as solo work including collabs, osts, and remakes…even unreleased music.

BTS was poor like mamamoo (not a flex , I feel like I need to remind people somehow or else they take my head.. they already started down here) ... the 7( sometimes 8,9 dudes because the final group wasnt formed yet) guys lived together in the same room for 3-4 years. and in opposition of basically most group at that time , they had to write , produce their own music all from the scratch, even for their debut. they did not have money for outside choreographers too so their in-house choreographer did everything with the members themselves. it was even harder for some of the members because they had no prior training before casting for BTS. and mamamoo themselves are fans of bangtan. i hope i cleared some misunderstanding that you had about BTS
I dont think u should say bts were poorer than mamamoo as we dont know that exactly but they were both in the same situation cuz mamamoo also went through all that plus mamamoo couldnt even afford an in house choreographer and had to make the choreography themselves....but yes BTS worked so hard and they deserve all they got...love to both mamamoo and bts❤

BTS worked 10 year's and thru that built HYBE from their success from a very very small agency to the most profitable agency in Korea and one of the most influential in the world, along line's of Tesla and Microsoft

I'm glad Mamamoo has been able to be themselves and able to participate in creating their songs, mv's, choreography, etc. They did have it hard coming from a brand new company and being the first. A lot of things they had to do themselves. That being said, we should also acknowledge that coming from a big company does not necessarily mean they had it easy all the time either. They each have their pros and cons. Take my top 2 groups, Mamamoo and EXO, we see here the hardship Mamamoo faced coming from a small company. EXO on the other hand comes from SM but they 2 have faced difficulties and have struggled through the years. One things that has made these 2 groups achieve success despite not being promoted outside of Asia is their sheer vocal talent and love for what they do and love for their fans.
So happy to have seen them in concert this past May😊😊😊
