Why do parents tell kids something and then say "OK?" like they are asking the kid's permission when their permission is not necessary? I do not understand this idiocy.
The "OK?" in that context is not to ask a child whether the conditions are acceptable, it's to ask whether they understand what was just said because it's going to happen one way or another. Similarly is 'comprende' vs 'no comprende'; In English, the "do you comprehend?" is simply shortened to "OK?" or rather "[is that] understood?"
