- 40-crore modern rake with coaches aesthetically designed and having a host of people-friendly features.
- Built at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, the 24 coaches of the ICF-Centre Buffer Coupler (CBC) rake is furnished with improved interiors, ergonomically designed seats, and bio-toilet fitted modular lavatories.
- Exterior of the train has a long-lasting polyurethane paint - light ash and blue with red stripes in the centre. It will facilitate easy cleaning.
- Mosaic design vinyl flooring and bucket-type chair car seats with individual foldable snack trays in the centre seating portion of AC coaches and polycarbonate interior panelling provide better aesthetics and convenience.
- As CBC has been provided to enhance safety and to draw 24 coaches, the rake is anti-telescopic, which means that a coach will not slide into another in the event of an accident.
- The three AC coaches are provided with the latest design roll-down curtains. The washbasins are of sleek design, permitting easy movement in the doorway area. There is also a concealed dustbin. The modular lavatory has stainless steel panelling, concealed dustbins, and convenient health faucets.
- LED lights, modular switch boards, laptop/mobile charging points and LED based signages are the other features.
- LED display in the coaches will now show the approaching station 5 km in advance based on the GPS data provided. Passengers will be alerted through an LED display once the train reaches the station.
- The rake has one luggage coach and brake van, 18 second class (non-AC) chair car, pantry car, second AC chair car and one second class disabled-friendly (divyang) with luggage coach and brake van.
Definitely an improvement over the 'standard' ICF. Don't remember the last time a Kerala train got brand new coaches. Thanks for shooting & sharing. Cheers!

One of the appreciable thing done by Modi Govt is that they gave more importance to improve the railway facilities than adding more trains.

First of all we need better facilities than new trains. Better coaches, clean Toilets clean railway stations, easy booking.

Who ever makes a negative comment on Indian railways should understand that this was a captive market for British till the year 1947 and steam engines was shipped out from UK yards thereby we Indians did not get an opportunity to understand this black monster.
One comment I noted that one gentleman want to import the coaches from outside India which is ridiculous.

Thank God they did not give these coaches to northern railway. They would have stolen out everything by same day including taps and electronic display.

Don't restrict urself to places where Ur own ppl r concentrated or where u get palampuri/kattanchai or kottachoru...get exposed to outside world. Then only U'll know the truth

These are ICF ones the difference being it’s CBC Coupling.. Somehow I did not find it comfortable especially the legroom and also there was a bump when it accelerated and also the destination boards were not displaying the stations correctly.. ICF has stopped making these kind of coaches I reckon..But yeah the looks are definitely refreshing

I was going to ask the same question. The train runs through Kerala and no info in the local language. What a joke? Malayalam and English should be the default languages. I dont think they would do this in Tamilnadu where Tamil will be dominant language and it should be so. I guess nobody in Kerala bothers to complain. The coaches though looks good.

People in Kerala are well educated and are very cosmopolitan. They realize that these trains originating in Kerala wind through several states before reaching the final destination and Kerala people live in all these states in good numbers which makes them very tolerant and enlightened unlike some language fanatics we see elsewhere. Most Kerala people understand Hindi is not English as well.

The seats are so congested and leg space is inadequate for comfortable sitting and travelling.Who designs this without taking care of ergonomics.These are made to last for many years and sufficient care would have taken to make it best and up to date.Commenting, it is showy looks like an aeroplane seats won't do any good.It is made humans to travel, so Railway Engineers must have given little more thought into the comfort of passengers.For stacking people, seeing them like commodities, Yes it is what it is.
i agree with your comments, surely Railways must give preference to passenger comfort as these coaches need to handle more rush and should not be congested like this.

Where do you find Hindi? BTW most Kerala people - cosmopolitan people that they are, learn and understand many languages including Hindi - lot different from the rabidly parochial Tamils who fall for English (good) but pretend to love (fanatically) even as they send their kids to English medium schools - no such shameless and patent hypocrisy in God's own country - Kerala!
why are you talking like Tamalian? Is it feasible to fit in Malayalam Display in all the coaches? So, Indian govt has gone with the two Official languages-- Hindi and English.

It's not that hard for them to display next stoping station in Malayalam. I did saw a lot of Malayalam advertisements on such screens in railway stations.

Indian railway operates pan india. The coach may be used in some other train which runs in some other state. Both the official language of the country is being used. Whats the point of putting any other language.

What is the point of luxurious A.C. coaches. they are meant for the rich and free boarding rly baboos. the pantry car is unnecessary. It it should be replaced with a general coach so that more people can travel. why only LED signs in Hindi and English. how many people can understand Hindi in Kerala? the rlys should stop its elitist policies and the imposition of Hindi on non-Hindi speakers. do you want a violent reaction from keralites like the ones in Karnataka and TN against Hindi?

Hindi and English are official languages of Indian railways. difficult to include regional languages in each and every trains. and what about trains passing through multiple states. so better not to raise those stupid issues. and i think keralites better know english as well. we all love and respect each indian languages.
Railways like to keep it simple by having English and Hindi. As changing language for each state is cumbersome. Secondly the information given by led boards is useless if what shown in video is the only information. Like date and time. You can even see in your phone. Why to have led board for that.
