  • Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (IATA: CAN, ICAO: ZGGG) is the international airport serving Guangzhou, the capital of Southern China's Guangdong province.
    Chinese Name-
Owner Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Co. Ltd.
    Operator Guangdong Airport Authority
The airport is the main hub of China Southern Airlines and a focus city for Shenzhen Airlines. “Baiyun” means “white clouds” in Chinese and refers to Mount Baiyun near the airport. The new airport opened on August 5, 2004, replacing the 72-year-old previous, identically named Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (now closed). The new airport is 28 kilometres from downtown Guangzhou.
    Inter-terminal
There is a free shuttle bus that goes between Terminals 1 and 2.
    Road
The airport is connected to downtown Guangzhou by the S41 Guangzhou Airport Expressway.
    Rail
Guangzhou-Foshan circular intercity railway, which is under construction, will serve Baiyun Airport North railway station (for Terminal 2), Baiyun Airport South railway station (for Terminal 1) and Baiyun Airport East railway station (for Terminal 3) in the airport. The rail will connect the airport to the Panyu railway station and the Huadu railway station.
    Metro
Baiyun International Airport is served by the Airport South Station (serving Terminal 1) and the Airport North Station (serving Terminal 2) on Line 3 of Guangzhou Metro.
In the future, Guangzhou Metro Line 22 may serve the airport, connecting it to downtown Guangzhou.
    Bus
There are 5 Airport Express lines and 6 Airport Non-stop lines between the airport and downtown. Buses take passengers to the city's major hotels, grand plazas and transportation centres, such as Garden Hotel, Guangdong Hotel, CITIC Plaza, Haizhu Square, Tianhe Coach Station, and Guangzhou North Station, among other destinations.
To service passengers out of Guangzhou city, the airport also provides intercity bus service. The buses will take passengers from/to Dongguan, Foshan, Zhongshan, Huizhou, and Jiangmen, among other destinations.

Thank you for your comment. Yes, you can rest in the Lounge. And there are Massage chairs, personal KTV for singing, Restaurants, coffee shops etc.
If you would like a good solid sleep between flights without the stress of leaving the airport, you have a few hotel options. The "Aerotel" (International Departures, Within Secured Area, Terminal 2) is located in the transit area of Terminal 2. In Terminal 1, the Hourly Passenger Lounge has 70+ rooms, each equipped with a single or double bed, desk, WiFi and TV, and shower facilities. Rent a room by the overnight, day, or hour; rates change accordingly.

Can I ask you this, I have a flight from Bali to Dubai with China Southern and have Layover at Guangzhou Layover duration is 8 hr and 50 mins now I have heard that China Southern provides free Transit hotel for layovers above 8hrs in case they don’t do it, is there any good option to rest within the airport at reasonable cost?

    • @mhkvlog6122
      @mhkvlog6122  Před 11 měsíci +2

Thank you for your comment. Int to Int transfer is very easy and not time-consuming. There will be a special international transfers line, and one officer will be there to show you the way, and you follow it. You can wait in the international transit hall. There is a desk for international transfer, and EV car or transport is also available.
Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Terminal 2 International-International Transit Flow
Get off the plane ---> go through customs ---> go through transit formalities at the international-international transfer counter on the second floor ---> go through customs ---> security check ---> take the elevator on the second floor to the third floor ---> go to the international departures waiting hall ---> go to the departure boarding gate ---> board the plane.
And, Currently, you can do transit without a visa within 72 hours at the following airports: Changsha, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Qingdao, Wuhan, Xian, Xiamen, Guilin, Harbin and Kunming. (Please recheck this list for current info)
And you can do transit without a visa within 144 hours in Hangzhou, Nanjing, Shanghai (Hongqiao and Pudong airports), Beijing, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Dalian and Shenyang. (Please recheck this list for current info)

No, thak you for your detailed reply! I read that when doing int-int transfer on short layovers passengers didn't have to go through customs/inmigration but transit security control, as you're not really "entering China".
Also read there's no need for visas or any type of special document for these short layovers without leaving the transit area.
      Thanks again!

      You might follow this flow:
Get off the plane ---> go through customs inspection --->go through the border entry inspection ---> take the elevator to the first floor for baggage pickup ---> go through customs inspection ---> turn right prior to arrival ---> go through transfer formalities and re-check in baggage at the international-domestic transfer counter on the first floor ---> take the elevator on the first floor to the second floor ---> go through the security check at the front of the cross-shaped corridor ---> (domestic departures and arrivals area) go to the departure boarding gate ---> board the plane.

just deboard the plane, go through customs, there is no need for changing terminals unless you are flying on 2 different airlines. then proceed to the gate, but the airport is massive so it takes a long time
