Norman and Micheal Manley seemed to have been the best political leaders Jamaica has ever had.

I admire Norman Manley. Both he and Busta must have rolled in their graves after what leaders after them did to the country they fought so long and hard for, even to their last breath.
Jamaica needs another Norman Manley to take over leadership. This was a man of integrity, humility, strong willed and eloquence.

Both are nothing but dividers of the black race in Jamaica and they keep us in line to worship and beg them to give us black people some benefits. Some of us are like slaves because we still kiss up to them like they did something for us.

It wasn’t in the interest of England for the islands to form a federation because they would have lost much control over the resources of the islands. See how they and the US own so much of the islands resources and the people suffer great need and are forced to migrate for a better life.

He truly had great and ambitious ideas. It is a pity they did not come to fruition. To this day, the English-speaking Caribbean is not as united as it could have been. Imagibe if the federation were successful. I note that some issues here may have been reasons for the not so good relationship that followed between the islands. We missed a great opportunity.

Illiteracy, ignorance always make ppl make wrong choices. Bustamante was not very learned and no visionary and said to have been a pawn of the British empire; he was used to lead the uneducated astray.

I find it interesting that the people in the urban areas were more favorable to the Federation idea compared to the rural folk, and I think that Norman Manley's explanation has a lot of merit to it, even though I am sure that the rural folks would probably take exception to his view and may even see it as condescending.....

    • @andreac6024

I have just watched this video for the first time and feel a certain amount of anger and disbelief. How on earth were Norman Manley and Bustamante made National Heroes?
Bustamante was a semi-literate racist who despised the black masses of the island. It was the same Bustamante who advocated the killing if Rastas. Even had a poster made saying Rastas wanted dead or alive.
With regards to Norman Manley, he was nothing more than an old colonialist who also despised the black masses and behaved towards them like the slave owners of the past.
