I've been in the sewer a s drain cleaning industry my whole life, my family owns one of the bigger "rooter" companies in the city (that's not corporate owned) and they make most of their money jetting and pumping. I never really had to run one because every company I ever sub contracted for would just send their jetting crew to take care of the jobs I sold jetting on. Now that I started my own company I had a lot of learning to do about jetters, what makes them tick, what specs best fit my application ect and lots of time trying to learn how to just build my own and save a pile of my hard earned cash. Hydro jetters are pretty much just a pressure washer or similar to some carpet cleaners steam cleaners. One huge thing that I've found that sets them apart is that a hydro jetter that's properly designed has a way to pulsate the flow, allowing the hose to shake and vibrate in the sewer which prevents it from getting stuck in turns ect. 4 gpm is standard for the little crate jetters that don't need buffer tanks and use a direct supply from a hose, and while it can open blockages in main sewers, its usually just pushing debris like broken down TP that's turned into sludge from things like tree roots preventing it from passing. It isn't going to be very effective at cutting up them roots tho! And the problem will likely be right back after enough debris is collected again. Some places have smaller main sewers so, it would fare better in a town with 4" main sewers vs places like Chicago where residential mains are all 6". Just because you see the water drain from up by you doesn't mean the drain is flowing properly either, and often times that pipe that's underground still half full will excrete water at every hub connection which is usually every 2'-4' causing serious failure underground that again you don't see it until you had multiple plumbers come out and inform you that your sewer severely shifted, collapsed or has a 10' belly and all 3 failures need expensive repair! This is why I own a sewer camera, I don't usually need it to see for myself what's wrong, i can usually tell by how my machine behaves on the "bad spot" but, I need to be able to show homeowners that even though they seen the backup drain......its still not draining correctly underground and how bad that is for most older systems that don't have some form of plastic pipe (sch40 - sdr26 ect) this imo is pretty decent for a handy man who isn't in a hurry and runs into small grease blockages ect. Also, a good nozzle makes a world of difference! Put you a small warthog nozzle on there and it'll be 2x as effective as the nozzle you modified. I'm still working on figuring out how they pulse the pumps for vibration myself a d was hoping this video would reveal the well kept secret 🤣 I gave in and just ordered myself a skid equipped with 2x Honda gx690 engines and 2 pumps belt driven with a 1/2" hose for 15k. It'll push 3500 psi and 16 gpm, similar specs to complete jetters on trailers that go for 30k-35k tbh! But I can mount it in a sprinter or a trailer. Even a basic work van if I wanna dedicate it to just jetting. I have no clue where I'm putting it yet, but it's being built now and hopefully shipped in a couple weeks. Once I have it in hand, I plan on figuring out how they manage to make the pumps pulse so I can start building more for myself and set up a fleet of sprinters equipped with jetters inside. I'll probably make a video showing how I did it too since it's the one "BIG" secret that nobody wants to share so they can sell them for 5x's what industrial pressure washers go for. Sorry for thd long rant 🤣🤣 figured maybe someone like me has been looking for answers and got a few from reading this novel!! ✌

Yeah , I got it out of the drains. But landed it in my hair and teeth. Didn’t fab a shutoff on my washer/line/jet rig …. Bless u plumbers …… that job sucked ! But it’s done💪🏻

I’m learning about pressure washing and know some of the pro’s offer jetter services for their customers. Appreciate the warthog nozzle tip. Some of these veteran pressure washing you tubers are pretty knowledgeable and good mechanics (or have immediate access to them in their shops) too- Billy Davidson, Pressure Wash Help, or Southeast Soft Wash might have an answer (or know someone who does) about how you could modify your better rig to function like you were asking here. That is pretty cool you found a way to make a skid that does the same thing as an industrial jetted rig costing 5x as much. Let me know how that build goes, you could even make a video about how to make a jetter rig that pulsates from a pressure washer.
      Cheers🍻

I’ve heard of these, but what does the jet tip look like. Would like to see that.

Amazing how campanies charge $4,000 minimum for a gas jetter, this setup is less than $1k. Great video thanks.
