The Audacity of HOPE...With the recent news of Brian Flores coming out with a lawsuit against the NFL, other coaches and players are speaking up too.
During a phone conversation earlier today (published on @thepivot), Fred and Ryan talked to Coach Jackson to ask him about his tweet supporting Flores and reassuring his stance and legal action against the NFL. The tweet alluded to the fact that Jackson has evidence of similar situations happening to him during his short tenure with Cleveland and willing to offer those materials to strengthen his case.
Former NFL Head Coach Hue Jackson joins the Pivot to talk about his experience of being a black coach in the NFL and similar situations he was faced with while working with the Cleveland Browns and other teams around the league.
"They don't want to hire people who look like us," Coach Jackson tells the guys. Ryan, who played 8 years for Coach Mike Tomlin, says it takes a special person to be able to be a leader of all men, especially at the NFL level and he commends Tomlin on being that person all these year but also understands that Coach T did what he had to do to win.
Jackson pushed back a little on Ryan saying he wished Tomlin did more to bring black coaches under his tree. The episode goes further to explain Hue's role in HBCU's and how that may be the only future black coaches have in succeeding. - Sport

Fred AND Channing will most definitely thrive in this environment. It's about balance, consistency, and personality... THEY ALL HAVE "IT"!
That’s why I wish they got the AB interview
Exactly, displays the three C's with ease

I was a HUGE fan of IAA. But, Pivot has taken the lead in content, chemistry, and relevant guests. This is once again an AWESOME episode.
I totally agree w/ you. Its' content and the atmosphere is one of elevation and highlighting others- in a positive way

Did they leave I Am Athlete?! What happened??
@@archipiratta I don’t think it’s beef they just didn’t agree with the way the I am athlete podcast was heading. They explain it in the first episode.
The Pivot is a flawless podcast in my opinion. Great guests combined with the conversations and topics we want to hear. Each of the hosts bring their own style to the convo and it flows perfectly. Bravo gentleman never change.
Well said 💯
This episode ripped the bandaid right off. Hue didn’t let up on speaking his truth and I love how they sat back and absorbed everything he was saying as the OG in the room.
Fred is about the REAL. I love that he ALWAYS wants to know what can should be doing to take our community to the next level. Still waters run deep!
As a Puerto Rican, born and raised in the Bronx, NY and a minority based on how society defines my race, this conversation absolutely resonated with me. My early struggles in the corporate world were real, having to prove my worth for twenty nine years took a toll. Fortunately, the only person I need to prove it to is myself, now that I am my own boss. I hope and remain optimistic that things will change in the future for all minorities looking for that opportunity.
What's a minority?
@@jarvisjones9529 Exactly.
Psychological term to program people of color to feel less than. Black & brown people are actually the majority population in the world.
Great for you! I’m a native bronxite also and I totally agree with you.
@@jarvisjones9529 Merriam-Webster's definition: a part of a population differing from others in some characteristics and often subjected to differential treatment. a relatively small group of people, especially one commonly discriminated against in a community, society, or nation, differing from others in race, religion, language, or political persuasion.

Inspirational and powerful interview with Hue Jackson!! Grambling State is very fortunate to have him as their head coach there!!
Yeah Right
Me and my son just got done visiting an HBCU today. I went to a PWI and I’ve always told him that not attending an HBCU was something I regretted.
The “you had covid in 01, you were patient 0” bruh 💀😂
This interview changed my perception of Hugh Jackson, and what I thought I knew about his coaching stints in the NFL. Wishing him nothing but success in his journey with Grambling State 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
The day after Hue was hired he was asked in an interview why did he take the Browns job, and he mentioned The Rooney Rule, explaining that because their were other NFL head coaching vacancies but the Browns set up to interview him before them, he took the Brown's job so that other candidates had an opportunity to be interviewed. Had he passes on the Brown's position then at the time Cleveland wouldn't be required to interview another black coach. I followed this from the beginning of his hire. Listen to what RG3 said when he was there... He was brought in in the midst of them tanking, team kept the fans in those games by keeping it close and interesting then "finding a way to lose" Haslem came over from having a minority ownership in the Steelers, Brown's fans are loyal. You can make money off them even if you don't win no games! NFL big business winning just make it look good for the fan base.
This is exactly the type of dialogue we need more of. Special thanks to the entire Pivot® team and THE Coach Hue Jackson 💯
Now, this is the content I was looking for when this podcast started...love the conversation amongst these men.
The Pivot is the best podcast out right now 🙌
This podcast is perfect. No nonsense, straightforward, but down to earth and real. I’ve been watching since IAA, i tried to continue watching to support but it just isn’t the same with big Unc Fred and the Channing’s humor. Throwing RC into the mix, he’s what blends the seriousness of Fred and the light and funny side that Channing has as the perfect ying-yang combo! The professionalism yet hilarious banter between these brothers is unmatched and what the world needs to see! 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Proud Alabama A&M Alumni from San Francisco. I can honestly say that my HBCU experience made me the man I am today and I represent with pride. I wish Hue Jackson much success

Just found this channel, nice to see players from the era i grew up loving. New sub.

This podcast and the boys are absolutely amazing at navigating conversations correctly and asking the precise questions at the right time allowing all faces to make their input and opinions without overshadowing or cutting off someone else. Everyone plays their role well regardless who the key guest is! Props to you kings for deciding what was best for you and walking away from somewhere where the vision was no longer shared.
Im not competing the two together but in this short space the pivot is shining more than IAA Miami - one could even say the pivot has forced Brandon’s hand in showing more key guests

Also Ryan has more sacks in his career no freaky
This why we love this podcast ova IAA. They continue to talk about the issue now, giving us their honest opinions on what matters in todays sports . Thank y’all
Why do we have the crab in the barrel mentality? We can’t enjoy both? Must there continue to be shade? Can’t you compliment one without shading the other? It’s so sad! I hate that Black people fight against unity. They aren’t downing or shading each other. Thank Goodness!

That Grambling spirit rubbed off on Coach Hue already! I can hear it as soon as he walked through the door lol. Great episode man. I’m a former Grambling player and this made me feel great. Can’t wait for football season. Go out and bring us back to greatness coach!
This was the best sit down/this convo imo because it definitely didn’t seem like an interview, it didn’t come off like an interview it was flat out a deep discussion about a topic that a lot of analysts tip toe around they may speak on it however not to this degree and I love that. Keep on put out these 🔥🔥🔥 episodes
The way THIS Episode Ended... Man!!! Talk about Black Excellence, if this wasn't the most PROPER Segway into Black History Month!!! Salute Kings 👏🏾 Hue is a Jewel... Protect him at All Cost. Bravo, Bravo,Bravo, My brother's I laughed,I almost shed a tear. WOW freaking profound show!!!!
This is an amazing interview!! Love the conversation between these men and the way Ryan led the interview. The interaction and comments from Fred and Channing also adds to the greatness of this interview.
There HBCU conversation is on point. After hearing this, I'm now a huge Hue Jackson fan. I wish Hue all the best at Grambling.
I love the show Fellas! It's true, all we need is good role models. Without it, we build up these tall walls and grow up to fast to quick.
RC's football IQ is high, which is a known in the NFL, but the amount of time he spends talking about himself, cutting people off, and monopolizing conversations with the guests reminds me of B. Marshall. Fred and Channing add a lot of value to The Pivot as they did with IAA and should be respected accordingly. My point is not to disrespect RC, but to hopefully prevent a repeat pivot for Fred and Channing. The Pivot has the potential and following to far exceed the surface topics of sports.
I think this is what the guys have agreed on as far as their roles. Ryan is the main speaker and probably the most seasoned as an interviewer, so they trust that he'll always bring the convo back around.
@@Mallg3000 yup he's the leader

Hue Jackson is a great coach and a very special individual that’s always guided young men to success when he had what he needed and guys we need some 1 hr shows now this is too dam good this show keeps me glued to the screen congratulations on another great AZZ show god bless ✌🏾
Coach Hue Jackson is an insightful leader and successful, football coach at all competition levels. He clearly is a NFL Head Coach, NFL Offensive Coordinator, and/or NFL Defensive Coordinator talent, yet his lack of affinity to the corporate/white-man-dominated, ownership structures of the National Football League will keep opportunities away from him. His head coaching role at Grambling State University is not a step "down" but a step "up." Even if the NFL does not come calling again, he should hold his head high and we should thank him for cultivating stronger futures for the men and women attending the school. The broader Black Community and America as a whole will get value from his contributions over the coming years. I salute him. We all should.
One thing about Ryan, he's gonna find a way to spotlight himself. Lol
Lol 😆 🤣 you already know 🥴🤣
