The lionsteel Blade is shorter, because of the Choil!

Joker have a few Bowie knives that are bigger than their version 2.0 of the Nomad, as well as some extremely long huntsman knives (not skinners) and fighting knives of unusual size. I like the Joker Nomad I have, but wish this new one had been an option when I bought it as you can really see how that extra blade length and heft would be great to have for chopping.

choil is when the blade has a small cut out at the end to make sharpening easier. This is a choil combined with a finger cut out

How does the M7 compares to the Hogue EX-F01 (the 7" model)? From afar they look kinda similar, even in the sheath department. Of course, the F01 is in A2 steel, but I don't know if at this sizes it makes that much of a difference.
Another question, does the M7 has a sharp spot to scrape a firesteel? Every other Lionsteel knife I own have crowned edges (it makes using my T5 kinda hard).

cant say much about the hogue. but regarding your last question. Sadly no the spine is crowned and even thou it does strike sparks it not realy good at it. I carry a strike for that reason. A friend of mine modded it roughly above the designer name with a file (which looked ok i guess) similar to the t5

NICE video… I would probably go for the Nomad, the thing is or maybe my question is the following: If I am already carrying a folding saw, what is the need for a large blade?

If you don't have an axe/hatchet with you, a large knife will make processing firewood easier than a small one, because once you have cut things to reasonable lengths with your saw, you can use the knife to split the logs with the help of a baton and access the drier wood inside, which is crucial for starting fires in difficult conditions. Large knives can span larger diameter logs for batoning, and are usually thicker and more robust to handle the impacts.
An ideal wood processing setup would include a saw for felling and sectioning, an axe for limbing and splitting, and a medium/small knife (4 ish inches) for creating things like feathersticks or tent pegs or wedges.
Without an axe, a large knife (6-7inches) can cover most of the tasks of the axe and small knife combined.

I am going to go out on a limb and guess the much heavier M7 is a better chopper. Especially with that nice wide belly on the blade. Its built for it.
