is it a requirement for an ISO 9001 shop to have travelers in order to be compliant in a manufacturing facility?
Not 'travellers' specifically, but clause 8.5.1 (especially f) requires that you are confirming that the specifications are being met. 8.5.1 b) requires monitoring and measuring and a traveller can be an easy way to capture that requirement if the document is designed well. It could be electronic, you just have to have the evidence. You want to know this for yourselves, for sure! Also clause 8.5.2 has 'traceability' requirements that can be met with a traveller. Clause 9.1.3 a) has a requirement to evaluate the product for meeting requirements. Also easy to capture on a traveller. Send me a note directly if you like at jim@simplifyiso.com.
