  • “An E-Type for the 21st Century” Tim Shaw from Car SOS describes Evolution E-Types as best in show at the recent London Motor Show.
The London Motor Show is a hard place to stand out from the crowd, there are just so many eye catching pieces to look at, however Tim Shaw from Car SOS managed to get close to the Jaguar Evolution E-Type and it is fair to say he absolutely blown away!

As an E-type owner, I am so happy that some one is re-doing the most beautiful car ever made. Lets face it, a 1960 car that was 20 years ahead of it's time is now only 40 years behind the times! Just don't make it electric and I'm happy to consider the upgrades.

I do like how the wheels do fill out the arches more.gives it a more planted look

Going right back to the late '40's custom cars , we can see that car designers and builders were starting to take real care in 'centring' the wheel and tyre . The result is evident . You can see an 'even' gap between the tyre and the wheel-arch . I've seen some extraordinary classics and high-end street-rods and customs where the 'gap' is a little off . Also , as you say , 'filling' the arches needs to be considered , for a 'planted' look . Look at a Cobra 427 replica when it's been built with narrower wheels and tyres ! I know you need to leave 'working room' for suspension travel etc , and normal road use , but it can really look 'off' . I want one of these or an 'Eagle' , but it looks like I'll have to settle with customizing a good-old (?) Burago 1/18 scale .

Most people will never be able to afford anything like this, doesn't matter if it's an Evolution E-Type, an Eagle E-Type or a real E-Type etc, they are just out of reach for most people. The only chance the average joe has of buying an E-Type today is a kit car like the JPR Wildcat. Even the Challenger E-Type's are fetching nearly 40 grand now, unless you want some abandoned resto project that the owner gave up on (likely due to being too costly to restore, but they always say the reason was because of ill health)), and even those tend to go for about 20 grand, then the only option is a Wildcat which you can still pick up for less than 10k, but even those are rising in value. Most people are lucky to have 10 grand.
