RIP. My father George L. Horner , served in the Korean war, loaded the 16 inch guns.
My grandfather was the line officer, they may have known each other. That's quite crazy to think about.
BB 61 was in Oslo 1985. She was great . I was 29 .
I wish your dad was alive to see this video... I think he would have some tears👍🇳🇿
what a fucking legend, rest in peace ❤️🫡
He told me they had a helicopter on the ship, a couple of them they used for rescue and for spotting artillery rounds, my dad said they blew a north Korean train carrying troops and munitions ,off the tracks 20 miles away, good shooting dad! ,@@Thank_you_IDF_for_your_service
I can proudly say I was part of the “volunteer crew” that helped restore “Big Mo” back to her presentable condition in 1999 when I lived in Hawaii.
The first thing I wanted to see was the exact spot where the Japanese surrendered. The spot is now located with a brass plate and covered with a glass bubble.
USS Missouri and USS Arizona became what is known in Hawaii as the “Bookend Memorial. They are both right next to the South East side of the small Ford Island right in the middle of Pearl Harbor.
By the way, the spot that they gave me to refurbish were the two 16 inch gun turrets in the front of the ship. It was my job to grind down every rust spot on those humungous gun turrets!
Thank you to you and the whole crew for taking care of the old girl and helping preserve history
Of course let's remember that both warships were constructed in the same shipyard in Brooklyn, New York, just about 30 years apart.
@Ed Miller We had safety gears. Is there a way I can share the photes of that USS Missouri refurbishing project here?
I was there at the same time with my father. I worked a lot on the #2 Turret with a pneumatic chipping hammer and a lot of primer paint. I always take great pride in having helped restore her to honor her and her crews service to our country.
@Ed Miller We had respirators, safety goggles, and work gloves. The work was very well coordinated.
How proud you must be to have created such a thing of beauty. Well done and congratulations.
I view this build with awe and respect for the time, talent, sacrifices, and effort it took to complete a project like this. Congratulations.
I have watched all 29 episodes and have enjoyed them immensely. It's like reading a great book, happy to finish, but a tinge of sadness that it's done. Phenomenal job!!!
She's a beaut, Clark. Excellent job.
A super detailed model and good work by the modeler, congratulations 👌👍👏.
Mind blowing how beautiful the end result is. Such a magnificent model, it's museum quality. Truly in awe with the effort and care put into the detail of the Missouri model. Thanks for sharing.

Great to watch and seeing this. I was on the BB-62 , New Jersey back in 1968 and it was an amazing adventure for me.
stunning workmanship...looks amazing
I enjoyed all the little details put into this build. She came out great.
Great job...thanks for the journey!
EXCELLENT job dude! I used to build all kinds of models when I was a kid (including the BIG MO) but NOTHING like this! SUPERB!
I watched every episode of this great, informative, and inspiring build. Even as an experience modeler I picked up on a few processes to use on my builds. I would say Ben did a fantastic job of presenting his step by step build and explanation of trouble areas. I recommend this series to anyone contemplating building one of the Iowa Class ships.
Clive here from the UK. I have enjoyed watching this so much from start to finish. Its been an amazing journey and there are no words to describe how wonderful the ship looks. Thank you so much for sharing this with us all. Stay safe...
This model is gorgeous you did an excellent job! I have loved watching this whole process and I can't wait to watch what you do next!

Thank you so much for these wonderful videos. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching you build this model.
A work of art. True craftsmanship.thanks
Looks amazing and have enjoyed following along. Can’t wait to see what you do next.
All I can say is WOW!!! I’ve enjoyed every video from this series and the Arizona. It’s a master class in fine model building. Very excited for the next build!!
When I was visiting the Missouri in 1991 one of the volunteers was restoring some of the decking around frame 44. When he found out that was an active duty Marine he gave me some of the pieces that had been removed. I was hoping at some point to build a shadow box or a model of the ship but never have found the time. To accomplish what this modeler did I would have needed to start building this kit the day after I left Honolulu to get it done by 2022. Great job, worthy of the crews that manned her and the sacrifices they endured in the cause of freedom.
Beautiful! Great job!!
Incredible job. Watched all episodes and it's great work. Thanks for posting all your stuff.
Love it! I was actually aboard Mighty Moe 10 years ago during my honeymoon. I took the "battle stations" tour and got to sit inside one of the big guns. It's ceiling is low but it's as big a house. Such an impressive ship.
Everything you did was awesome!!
Congratulations! This is some absolutely fantastic work. It's been a lot of fun following along with your build series.
That's awesome! this should be in a naval museum.. salute and respect to dads in comments that had a connection with this ship.. thanks from NZ 👍🇳🇿
Thanks for the long fun ride! It's fantastic!
Congratulations! Marvelous work!

Magnificent! No other words needed to define... Greetings from Brazil.
You're not fooling anyone. You substituted shots of the real ship in the final overview!
But seriously - magnificent. Excellent, excellent, amazing work. Very inspiring. Truly spectacular in all respects. Take a bow, sir!!
You have the patience off a Saint 👌
She looks absolutely beautiful Ben. I can't believe it has been a 2 year journey to this. It just doesn't seem it. I have truely enjoyed each and every step of her build,as I've enjoyed all your builds. They have been instructional as well as entertaining.
Keep up the great work bud. Like the rest who have been following you from the beginning, I'm looking forward to the next build.
Outstanding work Ben. Very nicely done. I really enjoyed this series and will watch this again in the distant future. Take care.

Great build, been watching since you put the box on the table. And thank you for sharing your techniques and thought processes in your video's. Have a great 2021, and keep the video's coming.
That is one beautiful model! The pride and craftsmanship you put into it is evident. Looking forward to Titanic.
Wow! What a wonderful build! Congratulations, looks awesome.
Fantastic! Looking forward to the Titanic!
Wow, what a build! Truly impressive
Awesome job. I have a 1/350 version I will try to finish one of these days. I grew up in Bremerton when the Missouri was still in the Reserve fleet and was a museum before refit in the 80's. I visited it several times as a kid.
Well what can I say? The Arizona was fantastic, and as a result it appears to have been a warm up to the Mo. This is your best work yet my friend! You should be very proud! I have the feeling the men who served on her would love it! Outstanding Ben! 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Congratulations on a job well done. She’s beautiful.
A single saluting sailor to enhance the sense of scale would be the only way to add people to this ship.
Such an amazing masterpiece as it is.
Ben, I have watched your build from the beginning and like others I am very impressed. Your addition of details, dishing, the Kamikaze dent, plus your comparison of the bofors, has provided modelers with a guide on how to organize and proceed with their build. Thank you for the effort and time, I am looking forward to the Titanic.
The weathering is perfect. Even the bilge pumps have stained the hull.. nice!
Well done, excellent results! Really enjoyed this series.
