- Here's a thing for 2011. The live broadcast of the 1991 Sidecar GP at Laguna Seca. Keith Huewen and Julian Ryder are your commentators on a fantastic battle between the top three outfits, though some interesting TV direction tries to get in the way.
Thanks for posting this!!!
I'm Peter (not Stephen) Essaff riding with Egbert Streuer.
The ride of a lifetime for sure.
The shifter linkage broke and put us out of this race. Egbert was just taking it easy, as he had a new passenger and wanted to save something for the end.
Sidecars rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Good stuff. I remember it at the time, my first full season passengering in the uk and these guys were Gods.
Man, those were the days. 500, 250, 125 and Sidecars!
Nowadays...we got the Spanish Cup...meh
Brilliant, god knows how you got a 46 min vid on youtube but I'm glad you did it.
Merci pour la vidéo, cest toujours aussi plaisant à voir. Et bravo à Alain Michel pour sa 2º place à laguna.... ;-)
Really enjoyed watching this!
@PeterMayer, back then the sidecar races were part of the Moto GP's. They usually race last and both 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines were allowed. Those were some good ol' racing days!
Really great! Thanks for posting.
cooooooooooooool, thanks! love the long vids!
I wish Pete Essaff had his name correctly identified in this video.
These commentators are great!
Julian Ryder and Keith Huewen..
Cool. Thanks for posting.
I didn't know they even had side car racing at this level here in the states. I wonder if they still do it.
What a shame it cuts out the Kumagaya / Houghton crash on the cork screw. They're shown after the break at 14:30. Recently visited the track and it looks a lot steeper in real life. Not many crash there and live to tell the tale. These were good GP years with the sidecar teams.
superb A1 VIDEO
I was there at this race .....
GREAT! Where do you ever come up with this stuff? I never knew this footage still existed. What a treat to see these world class outfits racing around one of my favorite tracks that I know so well.
