- The expected date of delivery is calculated from the first day of the last menstrual period. However, not everyone conceives exactly two weeks after the first day of the last period. So we use ultrasound-based EDD to calculate the expected due date. After 37 weeks, the baby is considered full-term, and delivery can occur anytime between 37 and 40 weeks. Early deliveries are typically made for diabetic mothers, those with high blood pressure issues, twins, and those with previous cesareans. For more details, watch the full video.
