From Blue Natural Capital to Blue Finance: Innovative Finance for Ocean Governance

On 9th May 2023, BERI-UniSey hosted a seminar on blue financing with guest speaker Dr. Torsten Thiele. During the seminar, he explored innovative blue finance as an emerging area for responsible marine conservation and sustainable development. Dr. Thiele is the founder of the Global Ocean Trust, an Affiliate Scholar at the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) in Postdam Germany, and an expert in sustainable blue financing with 20 years of experience in project and infrastructure finance with leading financial institutions. In addition to being a frequent guest speaker on ocean issues, he advises international organizations on blue finance, ocean governance, and policy.
