Homemade Walnut Cookies

    Ingredients
    Plain Flour 600g
    Vegetable Shortening 400g
    Custard Powder 70g
    White Sugar* 300g
    Eggs 3
    Step 1
    Pre-heat the oven to 170°C. Mix all the pastry ingredients except the sugar, walnuts and two eggs in a large mixing bowl. You may do so by hand or use a mixer. Put in the sugar when the mixture is half-blended.
    Step 2
    Sprinkle some flour on the surface you are planning to put the dough to prevent it from sticking. Pinch a small portion of the dough and roll it into a ball. Repeat until all the dough has been rolled into balls. Each ball should weigh approximately 12g each.
    Step 3
    Place the balls onto a cooking tray. Make a dent with a chopstick almost all the way to the bottom of each ball. Beat the remaining eggs in a small bowl, then coat each ball with the beaten eggs using a brush. Place a cracked walnut on top of each ball.
    Step 4
    Put the tray into the oven for six minutes before serving.
