    I know this isn't the BEST method, however I wanted to think of a method that works well with things you probably have around the house.
    1. You could in theory use your computer screen as well, but from my experience, it leaves lines across your image, whereas the phone did not. A tablet would probably work fine too.
    2. You DO NOT have to have photoshop! Any photo editing app that has the ability to invert your image and desaturate it will work as well.
    3. Having something to hold the negative down and make it flatter on the surface of the Lightbox (phone) will help greatly with the cropping process later on. I forgot to mention this in the video.

      For sure! It’s defiantly a nice little way to get scans on the cheap! I was looking earlier tonight at professional scanning online and most charge $1/cell. Negative scanners I have seen as cheap as $40, but the reviews are all over the place.
      Sometimes I wish I was still in photo school to have access to all the equipment!
      Hopefully you’ll be able to convert some of your negatives this way!

      @@ChadEveryday yeah man me too, that class was awesome, had to drop out of school due to cost. I still love photography. Definitely appreciate the video, helped bridge some gaps for me from what I learned in the darkroom to watching this blew me away. Never really looked at it like that. Technology that is... I'll be watching out for new things from you. I've gotta get a newer camera. Or a nice older 35mm film one. 👍👍👍👍👍🤯

      Photo school was fun for sure. Mine closed down due to financial reasons right before I could graduate. Ended up transferring to another school and finished up with a degree in design...have never use it haha.
      I do miss the old photo days though, I blew some dust off my 35mm this morning and loaded it with some film...can’t wait to just go out with bare bones again

    Tipp: Elevate the negatives a litte bit, then you don't see the pixels of the phone.

    Thank You for this. I have a 35mm scanner, but have some 2 1/4 B&W negs I want to print, and packed away my darkroom stuff 30 years ago. I don't own photoshop. Can the inversion be done with any free software like MS Paint?

    • @ChadEveryday
      @ChadEveryday  Před 2 lety +1

      I apologize for missing your comment. I don't know that MS Paint can do it, but there is a free web browser editing program similar to PS you can use. I'll link it here: www.photopea.com/. (I'm not affiliated or sponsored)

    Could you do this with a flatbed scanner and camera? I already have one.

    • @ChadEveryday
      @ChadEveryday  Před 2 měsíci

      I imagine that would work, as well as a lightbox like some artists use for tracing. I've even went as far as making a makeshift holder and putting it on my computer monitor with the brightness turned up and a plain white background.

      I just go to Google and do an image search for "White Background". Just download the image to your photos, open it up and make it full screen.

      I appreciate that reply. It's often easy for me and other creators to overlook details like this amidst making these videos. I often make videos for my audience and miss the fact that CZcams sometimes pushes my content to people outside of that.
      I will say that you don't have to use Photoshop to do this. Any editing software that has the ability to inverse and image will allow it. There are many free and easy to use resources out there that are similar to photoshop which will yield the same results.
