Dan from Florida Fishing Couple calls me up and asks me if I want to catch trout in Key Largo today. I said heck yes! And grab 8 dozen shrimp on my way to his house across the street from mine here in the Florida Keys.
The plan was to take our live shrimp to the boogies which is a little north west of Key Largo. It's part of the everglades and there are spotted sea trout in the area. There is trout fishing all over the Florida Keys on the bay side. Also known as the gulf side further down the keys past Islamorada.
But the spotted sea trout are around and they are plentiful! Usually... Sometimes trout fishing can be like any other kind of fishing in Florida. They were there yesterday but not today... You have to boat around and look for the trout in key largo.
I show you the fishing rig I am using to catch trout. So not only is this a fun fishing video but also a how to catch trout in florida kinda video. Specifically this is my first instructional video on how to catch trout in key largo. North West of key largo so we are technically fishing in the everglades.
Fishing for trout is a lot of fun because you catch a lot of other species. We catch catfish, ladyfish, snapper, trout and even blue runners. Dan also caught a barracuda.
I caught a keeper trout and that will become a catch and cook. Trout catch and cook and it's a good one. I cook trout in wrapped up foil with butter, oil, salt, pepper, parsley and lemon. It was a super yummy fishing catch and cook.

So I want to see if seagull makes good crab trap bait. Do an iguana vs seagull bait comparison. Plenty of seagulls out there. And we’ll find out if crabs eat feathers too. BONUS. Just chuck that pellet gun in the boat with you next time. BB gun would probably do just fine too. Probably better not to expose the expensive rifle to the ocean air. Steal bait....become bait! Muhahaha!

When I lived in Key Largo back in 1998, I fished the Boggies one morning out of the Caribbean Club ramp before having to be at work at noon. I caught a very nice Mangrove Snapper, saw a five foot Nurse Shark cruising, and just before I had to leave, I decided to throw and drift one more live shrimp, letting the current take it towards the mouth of the cut. I caught a 10.5 lb Snook, and was 15 minutes late for work. I also saw some nice Tarpon busting on Mullet on the outflow side of the cut. Worth every minute of it.

Hello , names Phu from Pensacola FL, just a tip from a fishing fanatic to another put live shrimp in all foam cooler and they will stay alive for hours till you get to a live well or hook . the Styrofoam oxygenates the water in a way I cant explain . also works well with white bait but don't over fill with bait .

We take our trout in the northeast after cooking pick them up by the head and run a fork down the back bone and all the meat falls off the bone leaving a skeleton behind but a rainbow is a little different then a sea trout when I am in Fl we take the sea trout and soak them in milk for a night

Also one night on the Naples, Florida fishing pier, about 1980ish, I caught 24 legal keeper Sea Trout. Back then there was no bag limit. I love the taste of Spotted Sea Trout. My family and myself ate them all.
Them mustard mouths are some of the best eating fish!

Try looking for a good used motor at any marine or boat dealer who specializes in servicing charter fishermen. They’re used to performing quickly, they generally have a good supply of good used motors, many with warranty left, some only a year or so old, and there is almost always financing in house. In Dinner Key. US1 n 27ave there is a dock n u go out then go a mile to the grass beds. Hugh seatrout years ago. Now over crowded.
I grew up eating speckled trout I was born in Gulfport Mississippi and we wade fished for speckled trout and redfish. I miss that so much. Thanks bro.

If you ever get up around the Crystal River area, let me know. Between the gator trout, snook, redfish, and mangrove snapper we have been tearing them up. Snook season opens this Sunday and they too have been thick. My biggest trout the other day was 23" inches....on another note, the backcounrty area I fish I hardly ever see catfish. We have call them speckled trout in Texas. Just be aware that they do tend to accumulate lead and other heavy metals more than most bay fish.

I used to catch a lot of these when I lived in St. Marys Georgia. They dont fight at all when its real cold out. Taste great though.
03:21- imagine living in the desert, where there's 3 small ponds to fish in, and they are all closed. there's a good size river along the edge of my city, but it's dry most of the year because they close off the dams about an hour up river, so even when it's flowing there's not many big fish in there. and all the state parks are closed, so the bigger lakes i would normally drive an hour to get to won't let me in, even though i paid for a year camping pass (which they refuse to refund or extend).
i think i win/lose/never live in the desert because it sucks, hard.

Last Seagull that did that to me, I drowned! Big weight, hooked the seagull and sent it to the bottom!
Put a split shot right at the shrimp so I can drop under the water when you pop the court the shrimp will come up to the top got to put that split shot so that shrimp falls so them gulls can't get it this was left before I saw you put the split shot on
It's still a pretty nice raft....On the real, if you buy the parts, I'll rebuild your power head for a bottom fishing trip. I just started my own welding and mobile marine service up here in Cape Coral.

Those baby cuda remind me so much of Pike. Gluttons with no such things as "too big" of a meal. Have you ever seen a Pike that swallowed another pike the size of itself? It happens more often than you might think! I actually have always seen Barracuda as the Pike of the South or, as a Saltwater Pike. Edit: Seems like your mic/cam has been having increasingly more and more issues lately too haha, everything is giving out on you at once it seems like!
I unfortunately found out years ago, if you have a bad reaction to the toxin (which I did), soak your injured area (finger, in my case) in water as hot as you can stand it. Immediate pain relief!

Hey Heiko. Love your channel and order your stuff. What's with this new entrance fee situation for boats entering the Florida Everglades Park? I just come down for a few weeks every year. One more fee for the government to grab from you. If you stray into Park waters you can get nailed. $30-$55 fee is crazy. Any thoughts on it? Locals putting up a stink at all?
Yea it's a pretty new rule! I guess that's life. The guides weren't too happy about it from what I heard but for me it's not too bad since it lasts the whole year
Are Spotted Sea Trout different from Speckled Trout??
Unless that parsley has something else in it or it's Italian parsley it doesn't taste like anything it's just for color you really want to add some flavor a few sprigs of thyme inside the fish

And if you ever get stuck in that situation again where you need some time before you can get to an aerator just add a little bit of ice to the water they need less oxygen when the water cooler is also trick that I saw and I tried and it actually works if you can find newspaper you get like one section and moisten it and you can take the shrimp out of the water have ice in your cooler put the moist paper on top of the ice put the shrimp without the water just a shrimp on top of the paper put the the top of the moist paper on top of the shrimp and cover the cooler when you get where you're going to fish put them in warm water and they'll come back to life just like that true fact

I know you're going to get another one soon I know what it feels like I just put a 25 horsepower on the back of my 14 foot Carolina Skiff and it runs beautifully for a few minutes and then something crazy electrical happens and Mike gear shift box is hot not temperature wise it's got current running through it so when I touch it it shocks me and my motor shocks me when I touch it that doesn't happen as soon as I crank it but about 5-10 minutes after running I wish I could figure out what that is

Dude, forget shrimp and a popping cork. Got get you some corky lures made by mirrolure. Once you learn how to fish them there isn't anything that wrecks trout better, including live bait.
Hey hieko I’ll give you a little tip when trout fishing. Y’all need to stop trying to bring them in so quickly. They have EXTREMELY soft mouths and come unhooked pretty easily so just take your time when bringing them and you’ll lose less fish.
