Ok - so let's go with the notion of most that I see on this post - Drake is the better artist and has the potential to sell more than Tyga. Cool. But why do most rap labels (the privately owned ones) tend to focus on a handful of artist at a time? Think about Motown - they had dozens of artist out at a time. It's obvious that they are thinking about profit TOO much. If Drake sells 10 times the amount of records as Tyga - that's going to cover any potential loses (revenue from Drake's sells) they incurred promoting Tyga - and that's only IF his sells didnt generate a profit. I truly dont think promoting Tyga and putting out his album would result in a loss of revenue to begin with. How much would it really cost? Throw the kid on 106 & Park - get him a few interviews in XXL, so on and so forth - he isnt Michael Jackson - you arent doing mass promotion worldwide. At some point you have to put the artist out there to see what they CAN do. If you keep playing scared, you just gonna keep putting artist on the shelf and eventually they leave or get dropped.
